About this deal

Stand-up comic, broadcaster and actress Ellie Taylor is relatable, clever and interested in how women can have it all. Her honest, hilarious and moving account of the whys and hows of having a baby makes perfect reading for expectant mothers and fathers everywhere, as well as those who've been there, done that, and wonder how on earth they did. I’m a fan of Ellie Taylor. When I watch her acting or her stand up I genuinely belly laugh at the things that she has to say so I was eager to read her memoir My Child and Other Mistakes because I knew that I would be entertained. Ellie Taylor did not let me down. I really enjoyed this book, and I think mothers and wannabe mothers will be super grateful for the honest account of giving birth/adapting to being a mother too.

Fimbriation is found in most of the dahlia groups but is most common in the cactus and semi-cactus varieties. This is an absolutely amazing book, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is pregnant or just given birth. It is so, so funny and I related to it so much. "Minjury" is the best joke I've heard about Pelvic Girdle Pain 🤣 Loved it!! (The book, not Pelvic Girdle Pain!) In 2002, my work was accepted into the Salon International Show at Greenhouse Gallery in San Antonio where it received the Artistic Merit Award. The judge CW Mundy said, “Your painting has the spirit of painting in plein air.” I have painted plein air, sketched outdoors, usedmy photographsto remind me of a scene, painted from memory, and from setups. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my advanced copy of this book in exchange for a review. Having heard from them, Ellie goes on to get her own opinions off her chest. Through stand-up and sketches, she gives us her hot take on topics such as masculinity, the environment, parties, the news, the Internet and billionaires. Talking to special guest experts including fitness instructor 'Mr Motivator', travel journalist Simon Calder, The Traitors' Amanda Lovett and her own mum, Ellie discusses whether exercise and holidays should be banned, explains why she thinks reality TV is culturally significant and asks whether having kids has ruined her life. This joke is one of those where you might need to hear it a few times to really get it, but once you do, it gives you that warm feeling from #12 with even more of an impact since you had to work for it. Again, mention of food could affect the in-game feelings towards the delivery but that gets cancelled out by some additional context from later in the game. Ellie mentions during the University of Eastern Colorado section, that she would have wanted to be an astronaut if she had the chance. So anything to do with space probably is really cool to her and that paired with her love of lame jokes and puns, makes up for any additional hunger this may have caused. In this very funny book she writes candidly about her own personal experience exploring the decision to have a baby when she doesn't even like them, the importance of cheese during pregnancy, why she took hair straighteners to the labour ward, plus the apocalyptic newborn days, childcare, work and the inevitable impact on life and love and most importantly, her breasts.

This joke, delivered by Sam in the suburbs section of the season doesn’t qualify for the official ranking but I still needed to mention it. I think it can hold its ground with some of the mid-tier jokes Ellie tells during the game but is definitely beat out by some of the heavier hitters. It’s more of a clever phrase than fun word play which does hinder it a little bit, but not enough to completely ignore it. Good job Sam, now let’s get onto the countdown!Alongside a gorgeous snap of her daughter kissing her growing bump, Ellie wrote: ‘Excited. Terrified. Grateful. Hungry.’ Like watching The Big Bang Theory, it honours the world of physics and physicists/ motherhood and mothering but doesn't mind if you don't want to be one.

I felt so honoured to hear such personal, vulnerable details. It was a real privilege to be brought into those feelings.

Age, Biography and Wiki

I guess an important preface is that I am an Ellie Taylor fan, and not just a fan but often accidentally the same person. Thinking and speaking in such similar cadence made this such a perfect read, everything made so much sense in my brain because it was explained just as I too would explain it. These final two jokes are both absolute knee-slappers but for completely different reasons. With this one, it’s a classic and simple bit of word play but it’s done to perfection. The use of “my-shelf” in place of myself rolls off the tongue and even the person telling the joke gets to have a bit of fun saying the line since it’s such a smooth change. It’s simplistic yet effective at what it’s trying to do, make an incredibly stressful and hostile environment a little bit better.
