About this deal

I’m a big fan of Clare’s books, and when I heard that After Party would be followed on, I was looking forward to this. Given the location Ffion reaches out to Leo to advise him that a high-risk MisPer was coming his way.

The Last Party (book one) was one of my favorite reads of 2022 so to say I had high expectations for this new release would be an understatement. My latest book is A GAME OF LIES, the instant Sunday Times bestseller, and the second in my crime series featuring Welsh detective Ffion Morgan, who we first meet in THE LAST PARTY. He of course turns up for the new investigation, but they can’t seem to find their footing together. This than evolves further to a missing person in camp, what was meant to be a routine check ends up becoming a murder investigation with a lot on the line. And with 7 contestants who didn't know in advance that the show they signed up for would be revealing their biggest secrets, it is high stakes car crash TV, that is very compelling to read about. A new reality television programme, Exposure, is being filmed near the village, and one of the local residents is a contestant. In summary, A Game of Lies is a splendid continuation of Clare MacKintosh's gripping tale, offering a rich blend of mystery, emotion, and intrigue.

In addition, she uses a lot of Welsh phrases that aren’t always immediately translated, which adds to the setting. Detective Constable Ffion Morgan had seen the first episode though she has to put aside what she's watched on screen, and find out who these people, both in front of and behind the camera, really are. As if this circumstance isn't frightening enough, they also have to face their fears in a pond, including falling snakes and spiders if they refuse to come clean about the truth. I even felt thankful afterwards because I thought I’ve grown tired of police investigations, but this reignited my interest. Detective Ffion Morgan is a breath of fresh air - clever, witty and passionate about her job and a joy to spend time with!

If another player can guess the truth, they won't just be eliminated - they will be exposed live on air. I’m going to remain positive and be adamant that it was my mood’s fault that I couldn’t get into this one very well.

Sometimes you have a book that has too much going on, there’s too much info to follow but this book I think has the right amount. This is a book that is great for you holiday and I do recommend you read the first book The Last Party but you will be ok if you haven't read this. One contestant is so scared that they leave the isolated camp, evading cameras and squeezing under a fence into the Welsh countryside with no survival gear. This book however was really frustrating in that when you're reading a detective/thriller book part of the fun is being able to try to guess the killer.Their unresolved feelings lead them to act like stubborn, immature children who make false assumptions about each other, while George is caught in the middle of their hot-cold war.

Mix this in with her ex husband and ex lover both working the case this story becomes tense with emotions.Thank you NetGalley and (publisher, Little Brown Book Group) for sending this book for review consideration. Several of them make an appearance, and Caleb (Seren's boyfriend) and Ceri (the postwoman) play important roles, but overall the story is much more focused on the reality show contestants and crew and their filming location outside of town. Translated into forty languages, her books have sold more than two million copies worldwide and have spent a combined total of sixty-eight weeks in the Sunday Times bestseller chart.
