I didn't realize my transformer was only 16VAC 10VA - so I replaced it with a 16VAC 30VA one and have had much better reliability. Two face plates (really good to have options for multiple face plate which match your bricks or sidings etc.
It comes with a small device that easily connects to the interior doorbell unit with 2 small wires, that receives the signal from the exterior unit's button. I’m in the market for a doorbell at the moment and it sounds like the amcrest would be perfect if there is some hackability to enable native mqtt.
In addition to Amcrest Smart Home Cloud, the Amcrest SmartHome Doorbell Camera can also record to a MicroSD Card (Supports up to 128GB, Class 10 or Higher). Using my setup I could probably modify the user partition to replace the shell and enable sshd by default, but that’s not exactly the most useful thing for the community.
