This meant my keyboard hand could focus entirely on movement, or activating even more skills/spells than the dozen available on the mouse. Noticeably, however, there's no way to save your profiles in onboard memory—the Aerox always remembers your current configuration in case you decide to switch PCs, but won't let you carry a whole suite of them with you. On the underside you’ll find an 18,000 DPI TrueMove Air sensor which was co-developed with PixArt, who know a thing or two about sensors.
Like the company's other Aerox mice, it features a high-performance sensor and a honeycombed chassis that reduces weight. It lets you remap buttons, program macros, configure battery-saving modes, set custom RGB lighting schemes, and precisely adjust your CPI. It's larger than a Razer Naga Epic, Naga 2014, Naga Pro, and Logitech G600 (all of which I owned, used, and still have).

As with the Aerox 5, I'd recommend this shape for palm grip users with hands at least 15cm long (measured from the butt of the palm to the tip of the middle finger). The Aerox 9 Wireless' TrueMove Air sensor is accurate, devoid of any unwanted acceleration or hiccups, and did an admirable job when tested out in FPS games. He comes from a science writing background, having studied paleomammalogy, biological anthropology, and the history of science and technology.To be clear, I've had this mouse for 4 days and have been playing games such as Guild Wars 2, Slay the Spire, X-Com 2, Control, FFXIV, and Divinity Original Sin 2. It's lightweight compared to similar models with 12-button side panels, and the build quality feels excellent.
Compared to the Nagas released 2014 onward, and the G600, navigating the number pad buttons felt slower because there were times where I was second-guessing which button I was pressing. Like its aforementioned competitors, it does this adeptly, giving you a whole numpad worth of keys to customize to your liking.
While the SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless was a little too heavy at 74g to really be considered an "ultra lightweight" gaming mouse, the Aerox 9 has a get out of jail free card up its sleeve. However, SteelSeries has gone too far in this direction, to the extent that I could only actively use three quarters of the macros available to me (numbers 1, 2, and 3 are positioned too far away to even attempt hitting those heavier switches).
The overall shape isn't terrible, though, with an ergonomic profile that curves around the sides and elevates toward the back, favoring players with claw grips. Today we’re looking at two new mice, the Aerox 5 Wireless and Aerox 9 Wireless, both incredibly similar, sharing the same chassis, processor, sensor and body, the only major difference being the thumb button layout – the Aerox 5 sports only 5 buttons here, in a unique layout, while the Aerox 9 is aimed firmly at MMO/MOBA fans, or those who love a good macro.The first thing you should know about the SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless is that it's a honeycomb mouse. The SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless and the SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless are visually similar mice from the same lineup. You can connect the Aerox 9 Wireless to your computer with either a USB dongle or Bluetooth connectivity. Still, the option of connecting to a second system via Bluetooth is a nice extra, and a great convenience for those of us that frequently dock a laptop on our desks, or use one mouse for both gaming and travel. Imagine all of the photo, video, or audio editing tasks that could be automated by macros applied to these side buttons and you'll begin to understand what a useful tool this mouse could be for creatives.
