About this deal

Nose: Herbal, biscuity, hedgerow greenness and dried grass, like a long English summer's afternoon. Not bad for it's price but defenetely too young and not well balancied. Defenetely overrated for me. If you consider this one as an entry into sherry cask world it is not the best choise - you will get the wrong impression.

Secondly, according to Arran Master Distiller James MacTaggart, they wanted to create a new design that would help them clearly distinguish between whisky made at Lochranza Distillery (where Arran whisky is currently produced) and their newly opened Lagg Distillery, dedicated to the creation of peated Arran whisky. Medium-length. Nutty, smoky oloroso. Cocoa powder, orange peel, cinnamon-dusted red apples. Light brown sugar, slightly earthy. Malty-dry, almost sourdough. Sweet and round, with mild foresty peat. Caramelized fruit notes of red apples, peaches, mango. Fresh-baked cherry pie, toffee, and a little bit of custard. Flamed cinnamon, cocoa powder, some of that characteristic Arran ginger, and some fragrant creamy matcha. An autumn walk in the forest, surrounded by dead leaves and punky logs. There’s a tiny bit of a meaty note in the peat, like a distant spicy salami.Excerpt: I quite like this. It’s interesting in that it displays some really well executed balanced. Nice work, Arran.

Dry fruits, pineapple, some nuts, some moss, but everything is not bright. Not a sherry bomb at all.Excerpt: Clean, bright orchard fruit blends in nicely with strawberry rhubarb pie, light toffee, dates, dark chocolate, and polished oak. Long, soothing, oily finish. Another solid effort from this young distillery. Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. Taste: Big sherry arrival with fruit cake, raspberry and dark chocolate. Pepper and nutmeg add warming spice before a dry charred oak finish. However, when current Managing Director Euan Mitchell came over from Springbank, where he served as its Sales Director, he pushed the company to create a core range of aged-stated releases. Mitchell felt that this move would result in the creation of a constant and recognizable identity that consumers can expect from Arran whisky, an identity that cannot be achieved by their initial preference for experimental finishing.
