About this deal

I believe the unisex aspect of this fragrance is more of a marketing ploy as Prerogative smells like a cross-between Fantasy and Private Show.

I've tried spraying my clothes, my hair, I even purchased the body mist and paired the two together with a similar smelling lotion. I gravitate more towards the patchouli-rich Believe and somewhat bitter-orange Hidden Fantasy these days, however, in so saying I would happily wear Prerogative Rave from time to time to fulfil a craving for a sweet, candied scent.

Almost as if they had too much extra perfume in the supply closet so they made a new perfume by pouring them together and gave it a new bottle look). I’m writing this in late March 2020, so I’m looking for comforting fragrances to wear in confusing times, this one doesn’t do it for me.

Prerogative is definitely not a spicy enough scent to be considered spicy in my collection, however, it’s fantastic. It’s definitely sweet but I find it very wearable, compared with something as purely saccharine as Fantasy or a VS spray or something. On first spray I get cherry cough syrup but that dries down pretty quick and what’s left is a nice creamy coffee scent with a bit of sweetness. Not one of her fragrances have been powerful and womanly to me - so it made me curious as to how this house was to pull off a unisex cologne. I love this perfume and think it is well worth the money especially for the longevity and sillage it has.And as the watery floral mix fades, the cedar joins the sandalwood and overtakes everything else, except for a breeze of musk. Cost and designer name doesn't mean it is better scent than an affordable celeb who knows what they are doing. This smells so generic like thousands of daily products, from scented toys to Victoria Secret body spray. Average potency/sillage, cute bottle, but it's a mix of Private Show and Black Opium and then watered WAY down.

Whereas Rihanna’s Rebelle, a competing celebrity scent that aims for a coffee note punches up in terms of creativity with its heady mix of ginger, plum, cacao and coffee, Prerogative plays it safe.

If you want something along those lines, one that is a little bit closer to BO, I would suggest Britney's The Naughty Remix. It's slightly spicy; from the description of the red lily and Freesia I'm guessing that gives it the spicy aroma. Back when I was a teen I started building my fragrance collection with several Britney Spears fragrances including Curious, Fantasy, Believe and Midnight Fantasy. Despite its sweetness, the coffee note was fun and different, so I hoped that Prerogative Rave would continue the momentum. Prerogative features a delightfully on-brand-for-Britney fruity opening with a bit of a soapy undertone.

Although it leans toward the more conventionally feminine side with the freshly sweet fruit notes, I believe it to be a pretty unisex scent. Sometimes I know im being annoying wanting to smell things a thousand times and mulling over what should be a straight forward purchase.I would say that "Prerogative" is considerably less 'feminine' of a fragrance than "Black Opium", and "Black Opium" definitely wins on the longevity stakes. It's fruity but could be unisex, although I understand why this one is marketed for women because of the sweetness. It's not loud or obnoxiously sweet so although I think it's very suited to winter, I would wear it in the summer as well. It's more floral and a bit fruity, and it's VERY versatile imo, you can wear it pretty much in any season or hours (tho Spring and Summer are definitely more suitable).
