About this deal

Water should not be allowed to stand in the tank or sump for more than two weeks. If you will not be using the fire for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the water and dry the sump and water tank. Where can I get a replacement if needed?

Also, I have removed all 4 lights and switched-on the fire. This makes no difference to the problem as the fire still produces mist for 5 to 15 minutes and then closes-down, and it still re-starts itself, after 10 to 15 minutes. I'm thinking that this may illiminate the possibility that the lights are activating a heat-operated cut-out device (but of course I'm only guessing and could easily be wrong)Dimplex - Heating for Generations. Proud to be the trusted name for energy efficient electrical heating, ventilation and cooling for over 70 years. Comes with a 1 year guarantee included This electric fire features Optimyst 3D flame effect which can be used with or without heat, which instantly adds an inviting, warming glow to the room. This fire can be operated by the manual controls located on the unit or the easy to use remote control. Optimyst uses ultrasonic technology to create the world’s most realistic flame effect, with an ultra-fine water mist that mimics flame and smoke. As the mist rises through the logs, warm light is emitted which reflects against the water, creating an incredibly realistic 3D illusion of flames and smoke which is commonly mistaken for the real thing.

My Fire is a 10-year-old Charlotte CRT20BR and has the blue tank and grey sump, and it is only ever used for the visual effect, never for heating. In all those years the fire has perfermed faultlessly, until very recently. Here's what's started happening: I am posting this because I am having problems which seem slightly different from all other Optimyst problems I've read about here To prevent the cable becoming pinched between the nozzle and the sump, and to prevent water traveling down the wire and causing water to escape from the sump tank, place the cable in the provided slot in the right hand side wall of the sump. As advised in the instructions for your Optimyst product, the transducer should be cleaned every two weeks and only filtered water should be used to fill the water tank/sump. If tap water is used, a build-up of limescale can impact the operation of the transducer and seriously hinder the smoke and flame effect. Ionised and distilled water should also not be used. The Dimplex Optimyst range is state-of-the-art, using established ultrasonic technology to create an ultra-fine water mist that rises up and works with the under fuel bed lighting to give a fully three dimensional fire effect. The result is so authentic that it is regularly mistaken for true flames and smoke. Then, between 5 and 15 minutes later, I hear a beep, the lights go out and the mist production ceases. If I leave the fire in this conditon it will somehow re-set itself after between 10 and 15 minutes, turning-on lights and mist to resume its normal, and very satisfactory, operation. This "start, stop, re-start" cycle continues for as long as the fire is left turned-on Should you not be available upon delivery the courier may; leave the parcel with a neighbour, return the following day or leave the parcel in a 'safe place' on your premises, as per their terms. Ample do not accept any responsibility for parcels left safe should they go missing or become damaged from the choices made by the courier on delivery. To clean the transducer, remove it from the fire and dry carefully. Once dry, clean with the brush provided with your fire.
