The story, I felt – shocked to discover I'd reached the final full stop – was unfinished, there were loose ends to tuck away.I genuinely like them and want them to do well, and if you like books with unsatisfying/ambiguous endings then this probably won't bother you too much. This is a novel that one enjoys like comfort food, with delight, all in a rush, and only once it has been consumed does one realise how formidable and nourishing it is, how heavy it sits inside you, a treat you'll be digesting long after you leave the table.
