About this deal

Before buying any CD player, consider whether you are going to hook it up to external speakers or want something with speakers built-in. There are great options for both choices. If you want speakers built in, the PHILIPS 1268 or the Bose Wave Music System IV are great choices. For use with external speakers, the Onkyo DXC390 is everything you need. If you want to use a cotton ball instead, just glue it onto the disc and then pull it out, leaving behind some cotton on the CD (this should work the same). Bose has long been a standout in the music quality business, so it’s no surprise to see one of their products at the top of any “best of” list. The Bose Wave Music System IV is a mouthful of a name, but is our choice as the best home CD player. We really enjoyed this turntable's sound during testing, but we did encounter a few issues. The Fluance RT81's promised “auto-off” feature turns off the platter to prevent excessive needle wear, which is good, but you still have to return the arm to its resting place yourself.

You don't want to manually change the speed: You'll have to move the belt between the upper and lower pulley if you want to do this, which is a slight annoyance.

Whilst we will do everything we can to meet the delivery times above, there may be factors outside of our control and we cannot guarantee delivery within this time frame.

Belt-driven turntables are going to be a lot quieter and offer higher fidelity than their direct drive brethren, as direct drive turntables have a motor that is directly connected to the platter. However, there are some great direct drive turntables out there, so don’t write them off just yet. You can use a CD repair kit, available where CDs are sold, to polish out scratches on the underside of the disc. How Can I Identify a CD Player Problem? Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 27th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.)

What Are the Steps to CD Player Repair?

The best-sounding turntable is one you enjoy listening to. Some people prefer the rich, authentic quality of an older turntable. However, many of the newest turntables bring you that same sound, but with a bunch of new features and a more reliable experience. Regular removal of dirt and dust on the exterior part of your CD player helps to prevent dust from gaining entrance into the unit. The accumulation of dust on your multi-disc player will not only make it look unsightly, but it can also be a recipe for early damage to the entire unit. At that, dust can easily gain entrance into the unit, clog up the moving parts, settle on the lens thereby resulting in skipping or disc read errors. Lift off the hold-down clamp, screw, or spring on top of the disc tray. Gently pull the tray out of the player. Clean the travel rail and guides with a swab dampened with denatured alcohol. Lubricate the tray sparingly with white lithium grease. The Sony Stereo Boombox is a return to the late 1980s but updated with a built-in full-function CD player that can play CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 CDs. If the Clearaudio Concept and Marantz TT-15S1 seem similar, that’s because the Marantz was built by Clearaudio to Marantz’s specifications. That means everything about the excellent build quality of the Marantz carries over to the Clearaudio Concept, so this this is a turntable that is as gorgeous as it sounds.
