About this deal

Person using the lever is deemed at low risk of being unbalanced or disorientated e.g. from medication or a pre-existing health condition. Our Bed Lever is a safe and stable handhold to help the elderly, disabled, or anyone with physical limitations or injury to get in and out of bed with less effort. Ensure that the wall is strong enough to take the weight of this type of rail. Care should be taken that the user never bends down underneath the rail (e.g. to reach their feet) when sat in the bath as they could trap their head under the rail.

Our wide collection of bed safety rails for adults is designed to adhere to any bedroom décor. Their sleek design allows them to be folded down for ease when changing the bed or preventing obstruction when moving around the room. Most grab rails are permanently fixed in one position onto the wall, floor, ceiling, or a combination. When fitted securely and correctly they should be able to cope with the push/pull forces of repeated use. weigh more than the maximum user weight (between 100kg and 150kg depending on the type of bed lever you use). Bed lever will be positioned 318 mm away from wall/headboard/footboard so that any entrapment risk is reduced as gap is large enough to pass through. Everyone moves when they are sleeping and some have uncontrolled movement especially those that have epileptic fits, seizures and people who have Parkinson’s disease. A report was released in mid February 2019 following the very sad deaths of three elderly people over a three year period. The report recommended that metal hoop bed levers should have three bars and a gap between the vertical bars of no more than 60 mm to 100 mm, recommended 85 mm. In addition it is recommended that they all be fitted with a cord with cleat system to secure the lever safely under and hard up against the mattress leaving no gaps where a person could become trapped. The placement of the bed lever from the position of the pillow is also extremely important. Fixing to UPVC plastic door frames should be avoided as the frames are unlikely to have the necessary internal materials in the required area to support a grab rail's fixings. We are delighted to tell you that the NRS Healthcare EasyFit Plus+ Bed Rail has been tried and tested by our team of Occupational Therapists who are proud to give it the OT Recommended seal of approval.

Assessment by a qualified Occupational Therapist is recommended to ensure this Bed lever is appropriate for your needs.

Grab rails by the toilet are often fixed to the wall alongside the toilet, but if this is not possible (due to the toilet being too far from the wall or a partition wall or a radiator being in the way for example), then a drop down rail that extends from the wall behind the toilet could be used (see below).
