About this deal

Excellent review. The map details are strange. I don't think it would be bad to simplify the map but Orthanc inside of Mordor does look weird. Make time for you – This building set is part of a collection of LEGO® projects for adults who appreciate stunning designs and intricate details

LEGO Icons 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell review

I selected " to expensive", but in fact it is a very good looking set.. impressive even, with very appealing parts and colours.. topped with a nice and generous selection of minifigs.. However, my favourite feature of the ground floor is undoubtedly the mural, affixed to the bigger section of the building. This image depicts Celebrimbor forging the Rings of Power, with another minifigure in the foreground. I imagine the second figure represents Annatar, Sauron's fair form which enables him to influence the Elves!

Personally, I think the council looks significantly better when integrated with the larger Rivendell environment, taking particular advantage of roots around the base of the towering tree. Reddish brown pieces are situated under the bridge, appearing to emanate from the tree and with ferns filling the space in between. Additionally, the seamless transition between the courtyard and the bridge is exceptional. There are 12 council members. I would add two temple guards and Jocasta Nu for the figure lineup. If it wasn't going to be the full council, I would keep the temple guards and Jocasta Nu, as well as Plo Koon, Shaak Ti, Agen Kolar, Adi Galia, Kit Fisto, Saessee Tiin, and Oppo Ranciss from the council. I would also add Ahsoka and the younglings that she teaches which are Gungi, Ganodi, Katooni, Zat, Pedro, and Byph. Although I doubt they would do the younglings since some of them are the same species as council members(Zat and Katooni), and they likely aren't popular enough. If I were to maintain a 15 minifig limit, I would cut from the previous list Kit Fisto and Plo Koon since their popularity will likely get them in a set at some point no matter what. Realistically, it would contain Yoda, Windu, Anakin, Obi wan, maybe Ahsoka, popular council members like Plo Koon and Kit Fisto, and hopefully a few temple guards. Medium nougat plates differentiate this area of the model, which is helpful because the armoury is situated lower in the valley onscreen, so appears darker. The continued greenery looks good and several mushrooms are placed around the shorter tree. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that their stems are actually glow-in-the-dark. I'm still not a fan of Boromir's hair colour but at least the print seems a little darker than before. Gimli seems to have had his beard bleached and ended up orange since last time too. The Council Ring – complete with a semicircular ring of chairs for the council and the plinth where the ring is first revealed and the Fellowship discuss how to destroy it

LEGO 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell Review: LEGO 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell

Throughout the outside, we get plenty of these new fern elements, which are an exciting new LEGO plant introduced – they work well upright or upside down and add so much to the build. LEGO MOCers are undoubtedly going to go nuts over these very cool looking plants, and you get 48 of them in the set. Stunning set, but definitely one for a 'no bills month', rather than an 'energy and council tax month'. Looking forward to summer for a wishlist catch up! True on the roof tiles but there's a few NEW elements (new sword, new axe and all new broken sword, new fern/leaf element, prints-I believe the floor of the council), recolors galore, large leaf elements, 20 minifigs counting the statue figures, all within 6100 pieces of a licensed set.

Sam eavesdrops on the council's discussion and emerges from the undergrowth almost as soon as Frodo volunteers to take the Ring to Mordor. The designers have therefore hidden space for Sam behind some leaves and underneath the statues. No other functions are really included, so this seems strange, but the feature works perfectly and occupies an empty area. Built for LEGO® fans by LEGO® fans, Myhobbies is dedicated to providing you the most complete LEGO® information and best LEGO® product at the greatest price. Well, can’t be bothered. Again a very expensive set with a million pieces. I’m really not impressed, even a bit underwhelmed considering piececount, even though I like LotR. On the other hand, I much prefer the older versions of Aragorn, Arwen and (aside from the legs) Sam. Aragorn's new face looks good, but I prefer his original outfit; Arwen just feels a little bland here, especially since she uses the same hairpiece as all the other elves while her original minifigure had a unique piece. And Sam... well, if the orange shade for the hair that was used for Merry last time was changed to lighter here because it was too dark for him, it also feels too dark for Sam as well... though that is perhaps a product of making each Hobbit have a different hair colour. His original's slightly more rumpled look and determined expression, too, feel more authentic to me; although I guess since those are a product of his and Frodo's journey to Mordor, it makes sense that he doesn't display them yet in this earlier scene.

Legolas Greenleaf appears equally detailed, as metallic silver patterns complement the earthy colours of his attire. Sand green and sand blue look marvellous together and the dual-moulded boots are effective as well. However, I think tan would have been more suitable for Legolas' hair than blonde and maybe this Elf should have included unique hair, which could accommodate his quiver. There has been tremendous anticipation for the return of LEGO The Lord of the Rings, but does 10316 Rivendell meet your expectations? Let us know in the comments. The build was utterly phenomenal, and just enjoyable from the very first bag, to the last numbered bag (49). It had everything you could ask for in a minifigure-scale set – from intricate architectural details on the structure, to landscaping and tree-building, and even plenty of fun great tile-work.Sign up for a BOXXCO account to start earning reward points. We’ll also send you our newsletter so you’ll receive the latest Agree with everyone else who feels that there ought to have been more than one type of elf hair piece. There were several made for the previous LotR sets and some of those would have been perfectly suited for re-use here. On balance, I actually prefer the more streamlined look of the previous version of the “standard” elf hair piece with ears; this new one feels just a little too bulky to me. On the ground floor are various desks with maps and diagrams of notable places in Middle Earth. I especially like the heavy emphasis on Barad-Dur in Mordor. Perhaps this is a teaser of more LEGO Lord of the Rings sets? Lord knows Orthanc needs a companion tower. The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell will be released on 5 March 2023 via LEGO VIP Early Access, ahead of a general release of 8 March 2023 and will be available exclusively from LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store. While perhaps unnecessary, the courtyard and accompanying tree are designed to be detached if you wish, revealing a simple frame and Sauron's sinister eye beneath! This is a fun reference to Frodo's painful vision when Gimli attempts to smash the One Ring, although there was ample space to include some flames or further detail surrounding the eye.

They could also design the Jedi Archives and include Tera Sinube and Jocasta Nu (so we can re-enact the Grand Inquisitor fighting her in the library), and I would also want at least Gungi (since they could theoretically reuse him for Bad Batch sets)" Frodo’s Bedroom – with a desk and chest where the young hobbit recovers following his rescue by Arwen from the hands of the Nazgûl, before being reunited with Bilbo Here’s a look at the Elven statue minifigures. There are 6 and I forgot to include one in this shot unfortunately. They all have the same heads, which have dual-sided face prints, one a slightly happier version, and one subtle frowing one (2 right most ones).

The columns appear fragile, although some are surreptitiously reinforced using 1x1 round plates with bars, which connect them to the walls. A dark blue banner hangs behind the columns and resembles several from the films, featuring silver stars. Perhaps a couple more could have been included to balance the interior. Dimensions – The set measures over 39 cm (15 in.) high, 72 cm (28.5 in.) wide and 50 cm (19.5 in.) deep and splits into 3 sections: the tower, the council ring and the gazebo with river and bridge
