About this deal

As a side note, I do support Jonathan in disagreeing with opinions that he is the driving force behind Edie's brave transition and her continuing to be carefree and confident in who she is. It has since been released in eBook and paperback edition formats; while cover art differs slightly between editions, all cover art features a photo of Jonathan Joly as a young child in his British school uniform, presenting as male; this photo was chosen because Joly claims that at the time he was that age in school, he felt like a girl and resented being made to wear a boy's uniform. I hope that he’s managed to get the help he needs and can continue being his authentic self with his family, who sound lovely. In writing this book, Joly hopes to reach out to all those who, like him, have relied on invisible friends for emotional support. uk/landing-page/quercus/quercus-company-information/">The data controller is Quercus Editions Ltd.

The anecdotes are extremely vivid and detailed - narrating almost minute by minute, word for word of a day that happened to a 4 year old, over 30 years ago. I believe a lot of the people questioning his authenticity, reasoning and experience have never experienced such trauma before. Lets not forget the painful descriptions of everything that happens, for example at the beginning of the book Jonathan describes the breakfast, he, Anna and the kids had at Costa; this information is completely unnecessary and would of been sorted if edited properly. Not that he is an adult and a father and on social platforms how does he see himself is he trans, is he a man with a feminine side. However, as this is supposed to be an account of Joly’s childhood, I find it so bizarre that he can retell his entire life from the age of 3 with such precision. A curious book which left me with a lot of questions about whether the author might have done better doing some work on himself off the page first.

It is interesting, therefore, to discover a warts and all memoir of Joly’s childhood, one which includes a catalogue of traumas, some of which have travelled in his subconscious all the way into adulthood. At this stage Giselle is happy too, willing to share Joly with his other girlfriends but always confident in her position of primacy: after all she gets to go home with him and sleep in the same bed, alongside Lambsy and Rabbit. Jonathan’s strength and breakdown quite literally and figuratively helps the reader understand the headspace in which some of us operate and live from. As parents of four children, they have their challenges but on the whole things seem to be going very well for them and, if it is possible to pun a bit on Anna’s name, their offer is somewhat saccharine. It was published by Quercus Publishing, and according to the book's back cover blurb, it would be "one of the most talked about books of 2022.
