About this deal

I just finished VPR, so I didn't have expectations for this beyond entertainment, but it still managed to underwhelm. The lists were the funniest parts of the book, but I was a little squicked out that she had a "favorite serial killers" list. I hope you can read this book and not only have a laugh and a little departure from the stresses of your everyday life but also feel like you can relate. Discover how to embrace your best basic self in this instant New York Times bestselling, laugh-out-loud hilarious, and “refreshing to read” (The Cut) guidebook from the breakout star of Bravo’s hit reality show Vanderpump Rules.

This book is for everyone out there who is tired of pretending they would rather read War and Peace or see a Daniel Day-Lewis movie about sewing than watch a Saw marathon and drink a delicious but basic AF cocktail like a Kir Royale (nine parts champagne and one part crème de cassis, whatever that is. Overall, its a quick read and if you are looking for a confidence boosting, self-help book that derives self-tanner, ranch dressing, and "gliterfy-ing" certain areas of your body then this book might just be for you. Stassi welcomed her daughter, Hartford, in January 2021 and lives in Los Angeles, where she hosts her popular family podcast The Good The Bad The Baby on Patreon with her husband, Beau Clark. I feel like this is a main point of Next Level Basic, and I appreciate the sentiments that Stassi expressed in the book. The next time you go on a first date or meet a new group of people, I hope you feel comfortable being exactly who you are and that you don’t worry about saying or doing the “right” thing, because there is no “right” thing. The writing wasn't great but the message of the book was good and it left me feeling more confident when I was done reading it. Schroeder's book is weird because in trying to become self-effacing, she ends up revealing her privilege. I’m an avid listener of her podcast, and I felt like 95% of this book are stories and topics I’ve already heard. This is me getting real, raw, and taking my basicness (and hopefully yours) to the next level, because embracing those tendencies can give you the confidence to speak up and do things you might never attempt if you were hiding your truest, most basic self. Who better to teach us how to hone our self-confidence than the woman whose greatest skill set is identifying weak points in the emotional armor of others? Stassi Schroeder is the author of Off with My Head and the New York Times bestseller Next Level Basic. But this book was just dumb, I couldn't even get through it all and it's only like 4 hours long on audio. Similarly, to when Stassi went to Scheana’s show in Season 1 to make fun of her, I also wanted this book to be a goldmine of vapid and idiotic observations detailing the warped mind of Stassi Schroeder. For those of you who don't know who Stassi is, she's on a famous reality TV show and she is the most Basic B you'll ever meet. Millions of Vanderpump Rules viewers and podcast listeners know Stassi Schroeder as a major defender of Basic Bitch rights. The photo I added is just to show you some contrast about my week in Colorado and how it relates to this book purchase.
