MacuShield® began as a single product, MacuShield® Original, a dietary supplement derived from the marigold flower (Tagetes Erecta) that combines the three macular carotenoids: Meso-zeaxanthin, Lutein and Zeaxanthin. It acts like the film in a camera; images come through the eyes’ lens and are focused on the retina. This specific nutrient combination has been formulated to match the supplements used in Phase 2 of the Age Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS2). Lutein and zeaxanthin can be found in fruits and vegetables and meso-zeaxanthin is present in some species of fish and seafood.

The 3 capsules can be taken together, or separately throughout the day but we always recommend taking them with a meal.
