About this deal

XV22 Stealthsuit - The XV22 Stealthsuit is an experimental T'au Battlesuit that has been recently developed by the Earth Caste of the T'au Empire. The XV22 itself is of a similar mass to the XV15 and XV25 Stealthsuits, and is designed to fulfil a similar role in covert operations that require a high degree of stealth. Currently, the XV22 has only been issued to trusted Fire Caste commanders and some of their higher-ranking and veteran subordinates. Another cheap, speedy hull that can be used to secure positions or act as an Observer early on. They also add a bit of alpha strike potential with seeker missiles. Ghostkeels Below is a list of the most common available weapon systems that an XV8 Crisis Battlesuit can be armed with. It is possible for an XV8 to be armed with multiples of the same weapon. It follows, then, that GW would want to tone down this playstyle somewhat. And tone it down they did. In fact, GW did a lot more than that. As we all know, T’au have very little play in 9th edition.

A T'au Battlesuit is an advanced, powered, combat exoskeleton that forms an integral part of the T'au Fire Caste's military forces. T'au Battlesuits incorporate many different types of T'au weapons systems and armour and are the foremost sign of reputation and honour amongst the warriors of the Fire Caste -- they are the apex of the T'au Empire's military technology. For readers who are unfamiliar with the Farsight Enclaves, T’au players who choose this Sept have access to a two Command Point stratagem that increases Crisis Suits’ Ballistic Skill and Weapon Skill by 1. Simply put, it’s the only option that makes Crisis Suits worth taking. However, many people found their games against these lists to be quite frustrating affairs, and I can certainly see why that would be the case. Shooting an entire army’s worth of firepower into a Riptide only to see a dozen or so Drones be destroyed would be somewhat aggravating.Based on reports compiled after the Taros Campaign, the design was abandoned in favour of the XV8-02 Iridium Battlesuit and hundreds of XV89 Battlesuits that had been deployed for testing were recalled and had their armour stripped down, before being reassigned to XV8 Crisis teams in need of replacement suits. Of course, with four kinds of battlesuit in your collection, you’ll likely want some more, and there are plenty of options on how to proceed. The XV104 Riptide possess flexibility, firepower and, of course, a range of nova reactor abilities allowing you to adjust to dangerous battlefield situations on the fly.

The Fire Caste believe that warfare is an art form, a discipline to be studied, practised, mastered and applied. First among their teachings is the Code of Fire, which promotes mobile, rapid warfare and a clear disdain for close combat, favouring instead the application of ranged firepower. The first T'au Battlesuits were developed as a direct result of this martial philosophy, providing Hunter Cadres of the Fire Caste with increased mobility and superior firepower to better destroy their enemies. Recent developments in T'au technology have also yielded further XV8 Crisis Battlesuit variants. Most of these are still in prototype stages and have only been issued to experienced T'au Commanders to field test in battle.

Many cadres operating on the outer fringes of the T'au Empire's expansion zone, however, have been observed by Imperial military forces and Rogue Traders still equipped with the distinctive XV89 variant battlesuits. A battlesuit usually requires only one pilot, and often has much the same firepower as a tank or aircraft. When a cadre comprised of heavy battlesuits is deployed, it can change the course of a war. T'au Battlesuits are worn only by veteran T'au Fire Warriors, and vary in size, shape and tactical role. There are a variety of different models of T'au Battlesuits, each geared towards a different battlefield role. Drone Controller - A Drone Controller acts as a hub for communications and interface between an operator and the AI battle programs of a number of T'au Drones. It gives the owner the ability to relay additional targeting data to the Drones, thus directing their fire more accurately towards the target.

T'au Battlesuit Size Comparison, from left to right: Fire Warrior in Combat Armour, XV25 Stealthsuit, XV8 Crisis Battlesuit, XV85 Enforcer Battlesuit, XV88 Broadside Battlesuit, XV104 Riptide Battlesuit, and XV02 Pilot Battlesuit. Command and Control Node - A Command and Control Node is a sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted communications system used by a T'au Commander to communicate more effectively with other Fire Caste warriors around him, and better direct battlefield operations by linking all T'au targeting computers nearby together. Though the sheer amount of information received can seem overwhelming, a T'au Commander who masters the flood of data can better orchestrate the firepower of his forces. A couple of four-man Shield Drone squads will cost a T’au player 160 points. Even for the excellent defensive capabilities that Shield Drones offer, this is much too expensive.Although the XV8 Crisis Battlesuit is by far the most commonly deployed battlesuit in the T'au armoury, only those Fire Warriors who prove themselves in battle earn the right to wear it and bear the name of shas'ui -- the first honoured military rank that can pilot a T'au Battlesuit.
