On the palate, beautifully fruity notes of red current jelly and green grapes were apparent in this 14 year old bottling from Blair Athol. Established in 1798 on peaty moorland south of Pitlochry in the foothills of the Grampian mountains, Blair Athol’s ancient source of water is the Allt Dour – in Gaelic “the burn of the otter,” which flows through the grounds from the slopes of Ben Vrackie. A great idea from North Star spirits, this unique pack has three single cask whiskies in 20cl bottles so you can try a range of styles. A year later the distillery was acquired by Arthur Bell and Sons and today as much as 95% of the outturn is bourbon-matured and used in Bell’s blended products. The mothballed distillery was bought by Arthur Bell and Sons and wasn't opened again until it was rebuilt in 1949. Bottled as a UK exclusive, this Blair Athol has been finished for over 2 years in a first fill Marsala hogshead.It was distilled in 2009 and filled into a single first fill bourbon hogshead where it matured for 12 years.
