About this deal

An Almost Zero Waste Life is an aspirational book to teach you that being zero waste isn't necessarily about zero, but more about changing the way we see the world around us, how we consume, and how we think about waste. More importantly in this post-TV age he hosts one of the country's most popular podcasts - Parenting Hell - with fellow comedian Rob Beckett and cult '90s football podcast Quickly Kevin; Will He Score?

The book was super disappointing though - written through the eyes of 90s TV shoes, which whilst was a good trip down memory lane, loses its appeal after the first few pages if you’re really not that fussed about TV. In true Josh Widdicombe style, it is a joy to read, it is written very well and takes you down a trip of memory lane.I was waiting for the time when Josh would mention Romesh Ranganathan and Rob Beckett as examples of people on TV you might not be able to stand – as he’d mentioned it on the ‘Parenting Hell’ podcast – so I felt part of an ‘in-joke’ when I read that. Admittedly we only the one outing of Paul McGann's incarnation of the Time Lord that instantly made me a fan of the show, I felt that it could have been included in The X-Files chapter.

I think it helps further if you were a child or teenager in the 90's but I think you'd enjoy it regardless. Now we have been given a book deal it is probably the time for me to admit to myself that complaining for an hour a week to Rob about my life has become the most successful thing I have done in 14 years in comedy. I also found the book to have been quite thrown together; lots of juggled writing (lots of mentions of things before their chapter - e.From only having four people in his year at school, to living in a family home where they didn't just not bother locking the front door, they didn't even have a key. Getting to the epilogue was genuinely hard because his nostalgic recap made me miss what I wish we could recapture—optimism. He co-hosts The Last Leg on Channel 4 and Hypothetical on Dave and has appeared on everything from Have I Got News For You to A League of Their Own and Blankety Blank .

It’s really lovely to have a book like this aimed at my specific age bracket as I’m not a traditional 80s, 90s or 00s kid/teenager (having been born mid-decade in 1985) but somewhere in between. Ghostwatch: Unlike Josh (and many others) I never thought this notorious dramatized ‘live broadcast from a real haunted house’ was actually real. I was definitely the target audience, I also LOVED Neighbours in the early 90's to the extent that I owned the Pannini sticker album circa 1994. the newly-revived Blankety Blank and, as always, alongside Adam Hills and Alex Brooker on Channel 4’s Friday night hit, The Last Leg.We're always happy to answer any questions or queries you might have, please get in touch using one of the methods below.
