Like everyone else, I get weak for the boy-obsessed trope, and Alaistar served it so hard here hehe 🤭. this has been what i have wanted and needed in romance books and i love that i am getting it from one of my favorite authors. This book is said to be inspired by Apollo and Daphne, but I didn't see any resemblance to the mythology anywhere. i feel it was used for shock value and though it worked, it took any positive thoughts i had on the book and shredded them to bits. I’ve loved you since the second you walked into my life, and I’ll love you every second after, until I have no more to love you with.

Although I don’t recommend this book, I definitely recommend the series and the previous three books because THEM BITCHES ATE🤤.

And then of course, it’s like the stereotypical enemies to lovers vibes where they claim to hate each other but are fucking each other brains out like there’s no tomorrow.Long long story short, I’m disappointed in the execution of this book considering her other previous books in the series ATE! we already have enough to understand he’s very oddly and heavily attached to the mayor, so writing the subtle changes in his behavior work to show us he might be unhinged. there was a plot twist wannabe at the end, but how can there be a plot twist when there’s no plot at all? I mean, she gets bashed over the head while snooping in the PI Marshall’s bedroom, finds evidence of him tailing and spying on her, and her first instinct is to think it was Alastair who did it and then put her in his bed? Also, the ending scene could have been played out a little longer to give it that emotional depth that the characters were feeling.
