About this deal

Sorry, but I don't think I will be rushing to continue the series, particularly the way it appears to be going judging by the blurb.

Still, amidst all the touches of fairy tale and the grotesque, the thrust is toward the normal; the characters aspire to the most everyday kind of happiness. Fortune's Daughter, on the other hand, one of Hoffman's earlier works, lacks the pizazz of her more recent novels. Lila, a fortune-teller with no interest in the future, has lost her own daughter more than a quarter of a century earlier in New York.
