We started our certificate programme because we wanted to ensure gymnasts always have targets they can aim for. We encourage parents to remind their children that trying their best is what matters most at gymnastics and some children are better than others at different apparatus. Award certificates can also be used each month or year for the best student in each of the following categories each specific period. All gymnasts and children are different and if your child doesn’t quite reach the standards for their next certificate, we don’t want it to be a point of stress for gymnasts.

We’ll have written down the list of skills needed for your child to be able to achieve their next level. I started too late and looking back wasn’t really good enough but I still see the importance of sending kids to gymnastics and training as often as you can. For example, a child may not achieve their certificate as it focuses on floor skills, but may be excelling on bars! voluntary donation to help us fund the production of the certificates is asked for, but is not mandatory. It is of great importance to note that children develop skills at different speeds and therefore may be faster or slower at gaining their awards to other gymnasts in the group.Each level has eight different sections of apparatus with twelve skills to complete in each (10 out of 12 to pass).

The Gymnastics Awards Case offers an impressive bold design to highlight the talents of your young gymnasts. We aim to complete these remaining Badge assessments in January, and we will confirm exact details nearer the time. Gymnasts are tested on certificates by a coach in small groups or one-to-one every other term (alternating with competitions).Gymnasts who have joined the club around the time of a certificate testing will not be tested for a certificate at that time. We don’t like our children to leave empty handed at the end of the term as we’re so proud of how they are doing.

Apparatus specific awards work really well so that gymnasts are not held back by being weaker or stronger on a piece – they always have something to aim for.

We have specially adapted the assessment skills for Badges 8 - 4 to make sure they are safe to compete at home, and the children have all been working extremely hard in their sessions.
