About this deal

The battery life is about 8 hours, and this module packs some meat, driving the Deva Pro very effortlessly and with authority. The highest point is actually around 5kHz and as I have mentioned in the past, my ears seem to be far more sensitive to the 5k mark than the 3k mark. The frequency response ranges from 20Hz to 20kHz which enables you to hear your music in its full glory down to the tiniest details.

A built-in amplifier module provides up to 1 watt per channel, and the two-channel high-fidelity DAC/filter ensures exceptionally detailed sonic output, no matter the source. The new Bluemini is powerful and can output about 200mW but is still very efficient, consuming only 20mW so its battery can last for longer with a single change. This wire allows using the BlueMini module to plug into just one earcup and get sound on both sides.

However for this Deva model HiFiMAN applied its all-new 80% thinner NEO 'supernano' diaphragm (NsD) with a thickness between 1 and 2 microns so it delivers a stunning sound quality. Articulation is fine and the timbre is mostly natural but upper mids may sound with lesser intensity although nothing too noticeable while listening to music. It’s the 3rd headphone to receive the stealth magnet array after the HE-1000SE’s original inheritance from the Susvara. Perhaps this makes things sharper and clearer -- but it really lacks any soundstage, and that's one of Hifiman's signature things. I haven’t yet tried swapping pads between them (I believe they fit but I'm not sure) but it would be an interesting experiment. If anything, this just indicates that while big steps have been taken, and the Deva’s way of handling wireless will likely inspire even greater steps in the future, wireless headphones in practice still aren't quite on the same level as wired headphones just yet. It's impressive how Fiio has considered the upgrade path for E7 DAC owners by integrating an iPod-style dock connector into the E9. Slowly and steady HIFIMAN’s is giving every headphone a cloak and a dagger, making refractions and diffuseness disappear into the shadows, quietly and smoothly with more precision than ever before. The Questyle CMA-400i and Macbook Pro were used for wired listening, and Pixel 4XL was used for wireless listening.

Everything is loud and thrown at you, and it gets progressively worse the louder you turn up the volume. This means that in theory, with HiFiMAN's Bluemini receiver, many other headphone designs could be made wireless in future products. In any case, the Deva uses a double-sided magnetic array, which is surprising considering it's so lightweight. The ear cups have a swiveling action for better fit and the height adjustment is easily done without the need to apply excessive force. With an overall neutral tuning, with vocals sounding natural, this headset makes most tracks enjoyable. In BT mode there is more emphasis near the sub-bass it seems, though the bass sounds rolled-off after 35Hz in all three modes (Bluetooth, USB, and wired).
