About this deal

I so wish I had this book when I was a young first time mum, the content of this book makes you feel so human and not alone when you navigate the early years of parenting! The emergency pep talks in the final chapter offer words of encouragement for when you really need them, it's a resource that you can and will keep coming back to in the future.

In Mind Over Mother , Anna Mathur, psychotherapist and mum of three, explains how to: * Understand anxiety, why it affects you and what to do about it * Make your mind a kinder, calmer, happier place to be * Transform your motherhood experience by addressing your thinking The most powerful tool Anna has to communicate this isn't the letters after her name, it is the fact that she is open about her own experience of maternal anxiety. Motherhood is a massive change for any woman and the waves of emotions and feelings that come with it can be frightening. You seem to be in this endless pursuit of perfection and yet no matter how perfect you are for your baby, you never seem to see it.

You will learn to address the most important conversation you’ll ever have – the one inside your head, because investing in your mental health is the best gift you can offer yourself and your child. The long out-of-print 1978 novella by the brilliant Lynne Tillman catalogs a series of encounters and relationships spanning the 60s and the 70s.

The most powerful tool Anna has to communicate this isn't the letters after her name, it is the fact that she is open about her own experience of maternal anxiety. Listening to her is like having a reassuring friend on your shoulder and the tips she gives are very helpful, especially at the moment in lockdown with the kids 24/7. With conversations on Maternal Mental Health on the rise, and more women speaking up about the way they feel, Anna Mathur’s insight as a psychotherapist AND mother make her someone you feel you can trust. In many ways, it’s great that social media gets us talking openly about some of our feelings and thoughts as mothers. Thoroughly enjoyed reflecting on that for myself and having a little time to journal through the questions. There's an overwhelming positivity in what's written that provides a feel-good vibe despite the darkness of the subject matter, but there's also a realism about the amount of work and energy it takes to get to a better place. This book reminds you of the amazingness that you are as a mum, whilst giving you the massive hug you need to get through all those moments you think you won't survive. I appreciated the focus on anxiety in motherhood, and the different scenarios that you find yourself worrying about as a mum. We all have a relationship with self-sabotage, a tendency to put barriers in the way of our progression and our happiness - at home and at work, both on and offline.
