About this deal

The poetry style was minimalistic and 'Tumblr-y' which fit the blandness of most of the collection, but made the Aphrodite part rawer.

Bestselling and award-winning author Trista Mateer takes an imaginative approach to self-care in this new poetry and prose collection, Aphrodite Made Me Do It . This worked really well for me, much better in fact than deliberately pointed poems about finding your inner strength when faced with heartache or only needing yourself all along anyway, all of which I find isolating. This is definitely a different style of poetry, I’d highly recommend having a look at the images within and seeing if they are to your taste before investing in them because they can be off-putting.

I want to give young, new poets a chance and I am always looking for new talent, but every time I try them out, I end up disappointed. This collection is based around mythology and is also about strength, empowerment and self-appreciation. In this way some of her work was perhaps lessened by her execution when it could have had a much greater impact if delivered in another way. It was a short read with beautiful words, but at the same time, it felt like scrolling through someone's poetry-inspired Instagram feed - pretty but easily forgotten. The bestselling LGBTQ+ graphic novel about life, love, and everything that happens in between: this is the fifth volume of the Heartstopper series. For fifty years, she has trained to slay wyrms - but none have appeared since the Nameless One, and the younger generation. I really appreciated that, despite this being Aphrodite inspired, the author didn’t allow love or romance to be the biggest part of her story – she actually says as much in a few of her poems.

She currently lives in a house by the sea in New Jersey; and when she's not wrangling her cat, Honeybun, she stares out at the water and waits for the words to wash ashore. There were so many pages I marked and highlighted on Scribd, but I don't think I'll purchase a physical copy for myself or ever revisit it. Featuring a vibrant rainbow design, and our super-sized Q logo, you won't find a more stylish way to make a statement. The standout part was Aphrodite without question as it seemed to question deeper topics we tend to shy away from.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I think it’s because this book opens our eyes to how/why Aphrodite and Ares fell in love—he celebrated the parts of her that lesser men wanted to rip away. Similar to the witch doesn't burn in this one by amanda lovelace and You'll Come Back to Yourself by Michaela Angemeer, this collection of short powerful poems from Instagram and TikTok poet Trista Mateer will have you believing in the possibility of your own healing.

I felt like this book saw me on an oceanic-deep level and spoke to some of the rawest parts of me, while encouraging me to reconnect with myself and the warrior within.A sequel novel, The Scarlet Veil, featuring vampires also released recently and I'm looking forward to checking it out. I am confident that a lot of readers will feel heard by Mateer’s poetry and I found them to be extremely accessible.
