After blowing up some hapless victims, Beerus is reminded of a man from his dreams with the moniker “Super Saiyan God,” or something like that. It is a midquel to Toriyama's original Dragon Ball and follows Son Goku and his friends as he faces even more powerful foes.
Beerus and Whis travel to Earth and mildly intervene in mortal affairs by helping Dende heal everyone and allowing Merus to combat Moro. They discover that Goku Black is Zamasu, a Kaioshin apprentice from Universe 10, who used the Super Dragon Balls to steal Goku's body from a different timeline, as part of his plan to wipe out every mortal.
Goku then seeks out and recruits Android 17, who has become a wildlife conservationist on a wildlife sanctuary.Vegeta travels to the planet Yardrat to learn its natives' unconventional techniques, while Goku enters a Room of Spirit and Time with Merus to train in hopes of mastering Ultra Instict. Gohan is reunited with Pan, while a repentant Hedo and Gamma 1 are given job positions at Capsule Corporation. However, Cranberry summons Porunga with the Dragon Balls and makes two wishes, to have himself healed and to have Moro regain his full power, before being killed by Moro. Akira Toriyama has a very positive view of Toyotarō's manga, noting that Toyotarō is always accurate when drawing the manga, unlike with the anime where he always has to ask for things to be fixed, and is grateful that Toyotarō is drawing the continuation of his story. I love this take of the dragon ball super story, for the most part it follows the base story set out in the notes by Akira Toriyama but has its own little spin on things.
In the present, the Heeters Oil, Maki and Gas arrive to finish off Granolah, Monaito, Goku and Vegeta.
