About this deal

On a whim, she left behind her own strip of photos, hoping this stranger would come back for his and find hers. This is a sweet rom-com that also has some depth…not to mention some fun characters who keep the plot fresh and lively. But romance should be unpredictable and full of fireworks, and as the big day approaches, Audrey’s found herself wondering if Josh really is “The One.

This book is so emotional, approaching and discussing so important things like choices we made, the fate we’re destined, finding “the one”! I am actually lost for words with how to describe Before I Do It has gave me hours of entertainment and I am gutted I finished it in one sitting. I truly cannot think of a single thing to regret of 2023, which makes stepping into 2024 a bigger year of hope and growth for myself. We go back and forth in time, sometimes we go back and visit Audrey’s time with Fred, and sometimes we go back and see her time with Josh. It was weird that she kept their prior relationship a secret, but it was her rehearsal dinner on the eve of her wedding to Josh.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I thought it was gonna be one of those “she was about to marry the wrong person but the right person appeared right before her wedding” but NO it was so much more. And while the other side characters like Audrey’s mom yeah I have nothing to say about them cause if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all. What then does it say that suddenly he is back in her life; is it fate trying to tell her something?

this story explored themes of fate, friendship, grief, soulmates, and what it means to find “the one”. Audrey is about to get married and night before her wedding the guy she had the best day with, turns up with her soon to be husband's sister plus one. Normally, a lack of connection to the humor would have knocked down a star or two, but by story's end, I was so invested in Audrey and her happiness that I didn't NEED any jokes to give me a giant smile on my face! There are some much-needed comedic moments with Granny Parker, who is an absolute legend throughout the book.

I am most impressed by her ability to tackle such a difficult style, and I think it is what makes this book so unique. Before I Do is a story about all types of love - romantic love, the love of friendship, of family, for yourself, and the love it takes for forgiveness.

Before the wedding day timeline she seemed like someone with strong opinions, someone who would go and get what they wanted but in the wedding day timeline she felt so… different? This was a story of friendships and real life, two people with two very different characters, one who knew what they wanted out of life and one still to discover. The story unfolds between two timelines, slowly inching towards the moment Audrey and Josh share their vows. Minnie Cooper knows two things with certainty: that her New Year's birthday is unlucky, and that it's all because of Quinn Hamilton, a man she's never met. I absolutely loved the eclectic characters that were part of Josh and Audrey’s past and future - the astronomical element that was threaded throughout the story was grounding. Audrey would remind herself and think to herself about how much she loves Josh and how great he is, but her actions didn't prove that at all, and even her memories didn't line up with that. While the character of Audrey frustrated me at times, I enjoyed this novel by Sophie Cousens and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary fiction.

Picture sitting there totally memerised in this story and find yourself laughing out loud and almost thoking on your drink because you are not expecting that LOL moment. You might remember those words spoken by Lord Cutler Beckett in the Pirates of the Carribean film franchise. A total page-turning—with an endearing protagonist and packed with humor and warmth, Before I Do is a dazzling romance. I know some people love romance books that are completely predictable, but what was a breath of fresh air for me is that this one truly WASN'T. The book actually reminded me a little of Written in the Stars by Ali Harris, which had a similar concept, albeit which I thought was done better.
