The Build-A-Bear Stuffing station is a kit that brings the magical experience of making your own teddy bear into your home. The teddies were smaller than I thought they would be and a parent needs to help with the stuffing part of it, but we thoughts it was a fun experience to do together and great if you have two children as they can create a bear each! Half the fun of these toys is getting to be part of the process of making them, pumping in the stuffing, placing a loving heart inside and then of course you need to name your new companion.

When the bear pops off, you manipulate the stuffing with your fingers into the arms, legs and head of the bear, before putting back on the machine to add more stuffing.She has told anyone and everyone about it and she always sneaks her 2 miniature bears into her school bag. It was actually easy enough to open up the bear’s zip, using a hair-pin, so it’s not the end of the world if this happens. It didn’t matter massively as my boys liked twisting the lever and we ended up just taking the bear off and stuffing him with what was coming out of the nozzle, but in theory, it did make the stuffing station slightly redundant as we could have stuffed it from the bag directly! You then choose a picture to place inside your plastic heart, make a wish and place inside your bear.

This toy was all about the experience of building the bears rather than the end product in my opinion. She had fun playing with the cardboard accessories and dressing them up in their t-shirts, and she found the whole experience really entertaining. You then place your bag of stuffing inside the machine (each bear comes with its own bag) and then twist the handle clockwise to begin stuffing your bear.This may be quite obvious to other people but I was feeling a bit frazzled that day and hadn’t noticed. I’ve always wanted to make my own bear as it’s such an important companion when your child so to create your own bear is amazing. We zipped up my son’s bear and then realised that the plastic hearts (and cardboard accessories if you wish) needed to be inserted into the bear.

We did find that the bear popped off the nozzle a few times as the stuffing doesn't seem to spread throughout the bear so when the bear pops off you will need to use your fingers to push the stuffing to the edges of the bear including its head, legs and arms. The stuffing station comes with two bears, so if you have twins or siblings then you can give this as a joint gift. To stuff your bear you empty a bag of stuffing material into the stuffing machine, and then place your bear ‘skin’ on the output of the machine, before turning the handle to wind the stuffing into your bear.The instructions are really clear and helpful, with a step by step guide to stuffing and completing your bears, including tips if you run into any issues with the stuffing or zip. The machine is perfect for children and adults alike who are looking to create a personalized toy that they can cherish for years to come.
