About this deal

I did a lot of test rounds at home and was wearing the costume since 6AM that morning without any problems and when it was almost time for me to get on stage (around 3PM) parts started to malfunction, so I got quite stressed thinking "what if something breaks or falls off on stage? People weren't necessarily impressed with the costume or act, but they said it was really nice to see an "old" design character, considering most cosplay competitions here nowadays are filled with people in big fantasy armors in likewise styles (not that there is anything wrong with that, but you see a lot of likewise outfits in a competition over here).

After being happy with the shape and a lot of sanding, I started measuring out where all the details were going to be. It's perfect for working on cosplay, because I know that everything I make on the mannequin will fit me too! Unfortunately nobody I knew was photographing and I haven't found any pictures of this meetup afterwards. The Chichi Dragon Ball Z Cosplay is perfect for all young girls who don't let themselves be walked on. View spoiler Hide spoiler Not related to this costume, but the bat you see on the left was a work in progress for our Miria and Isaac baseball costumes: www.So for this costume to be wearable again, I will have to remake and/or strengthen a lot of parts and to be honest I don't have much motivation for that right now and I prefer to move on to the next project. To make sure the boots would keep their shape, I made a foam base and covered this foam base with fabric. In general I don't make much pictures of that process, as it's incredibly boring to do and to watch people do! I got a lot of questions from people asking how I the shoulderplates stay in place because there is nothing it attaches to.

She looked incredibly cute, was very though, but became all girly and fiddly when her crush was around! I haven't watched Kill La Kill (yet), but I don't see myself doing one of those super-bare transformed outfits if that was what you were trying to say, lol! Lots of people wanted to make pictures of us when we were talking and he even had a "master Roshi approves of this" sign with him. I like with Lilith how she comes over as very sexy, but is still quite clothed (she only has bare shoulders). As an act I decided to do the part with Chi-Chi's first appearance in the series (where she battles a dinosaur) combined with her picking flowers for Goku.On the other hand a few things on stage went bad, so I think I'm not that sad about it, as I would prefer not to see it back as I don't feel very comfortable about it. Definitely looking forward to seeing your Lilith progress too

Seriously, industry-professionals having a Youtube channel that they use to show how they make their amazing stuff are the best! If someone that studied fashion/clothes design or a professional clothes/costume maker sees this, he/she would probably smack me on the back of my head. When the costume was close to finishing I uploaded this teaser to show what I had so far and also to show how the design from the cape and top works View spoiler Hide spoiler the fabric at the top of my shoulders is not visible when wearing the wig and this was also before ironing everything, so pardon the small mess :P. For some reason I had the bright idea that I could use small pieces of foam to cover the gaps I had inbetween the detailing and the helmet itself. I’ve considered writing up a glove tutorial eventually since I wanted to toss one together for Sora’s (since a tutorial for that is non-existent) XD I’ve come across a few here and there.

Which I actually quite like, because it's just after the part where I throw the blade from my helmet. View spoiler Hide spoiler I just re-measure myself every once in a while to see if I didn't get a lot fatter or thinner and see if the mannequin is still good. So the process you see here happens with at least 3 layers and most of them have to be undercoated in 2-4 different positions so everything can dry well. I remember struggling so much with it, while it's actually a joke compared to a lot of other costumes I've made.

Considering the size of these boots, I decided to grab my favorite pair of sneakers and make a pattern around it for her boots. Normally I'm not the type for video-tutorials (I prefer pictures), but when a friend showed me his Youtube channel I was hooked! If I would re-do this part, I would have made the seamline less obvious, but I'm still quite happy with how this turned out!I also met up with a Roshi at the same convention and he was so completely in-character I couldn't stop laughing. But hey, it was my first time I made a helmet, so I just brushed it off and started working on a version 2 from the things I've learned! Considering the quite special sized and detailed gloves Chi-Chi has, this was no option this time and I had to make them fully myself.
