About this deal

It's a delicious thick chewy full bodied mouthful with hints of a rich fruit cake, possibly a Christmas one. Enjoyed with advantageously in a suitable glass, but also very used by professional bartenders in Div. The bottle has a midnight blue color combined with gold, which is supposed to evoke a touch of luxury and twilight in Barbados. Awards: - Bronze medal in 2008 at the International Rum Festival (San Francisco) - Silver medal in 2008 at the San Francisco World SpiritsTasting notes:Colour: gold.

But since aging spirits in “wet casks*” is becoming more popular – even in single malts – and the brand is owned by a sherry bodega, I’m inclined to think that this is more likely. After 30 minutes in the glass almost all the whiskey/bourbon taste is gone, and the sherry flavour is fruiter than sweet. I hope to see the day when brands with additives would be required or allowed to mention the amount they used on their labels. The Dos Maderas PX 5+5 rum is a high-quality alcoholic beverage made from a blend of rums from Barbados and Guyana.I started the tasting with the base which is a blend of 5yo rum from Guyana(DDL) and 5yo rum from Barbados (a little unclear if it comes from WIRD or Foursquare, seen both data) imported to Jerez in Spain, it’s quite good and I can clearly recognize Demerara. If your business is registered in a European Union country and has an Intra-EU VAT Number, you are qualified to make purchases without the application of VAT.

Since then, some of the house wines and brandies have been kept in oak casks of the highest quality (soleras). In summary, the Dos Maderas PX 5+5 rum is an exceptional beverage that combines tradition and innovation in its production. To my understanding, they will only tell a consumer that their rum has additives if the consumer asks. The aroma which rises from the glass is full of rich caramel, pungent dry fruit, and sweet candied baking spices.

Experience has taught me that perhaps the most consistent thing for my palate to do, is to change it’s mind. The Dos Maderas (5+5) PX arrives in a clear glass bottle which (in some markets) is encased in a nice cardboard canister. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar. You’re most likely familiar with the company through brands under them such as Alfonso brandy, Zafiro gin, and their various sherries. This time, I’m going to talk about a rum brand who isn’t and rum brands in general who aren’t entirely transparent with the sweetening of their products.

This rum is too sweet and has to much taste of the PX Sherry in my opinion, but it has been very enjoyable to follow the development of this rum from the base via 5 + 3 to 5 + 5 and see how this aging (and eventually some added flavors) have changed taste and appearance. The Dos Maderas (5+5) PX is a rum of Caribbean origin ( Barbados and Guyana to be exact), which after first aging in for five years in American oak casks in the Caribbean, is then transported to Spain to spend an additional five years in Spanish oak (sherry casks). There was a glass tumbler as a gift which wad placed inside the box over the bottle neck, of course when it was delivered the glass was smashed.Even if they mention it to every attendee in a tasting, what about those who aren’t able to and haven’t attended any tastings? This is probably the most fruit filled rum I have tasted thus far with flavours of raisins, prunes and dates pouring out onto the palate.
