We were introduced to the lovely team from George Foreman and the members of the PR company before being shown to our work stations where we each had an Evolve Grill to use to create our dishes that we'd eat that evening. I loved the the grill drained off a lot of nasty fat, you can see some of it in the bottom right hand corner. Not only this, but the bottom grill plate is easily and quickly changed for a deep baking pan, in which you can cook omelettes, pizza and tray bakes. Moving onto the main course required swapping the bottom grill for the deep bake pan – a high-sided cooking surface that can also be used to bake almost anything, such as brownies.

Although the recipe said that it would make 6 - 8 servings, we ended up with only enough for the girls and I to have full a full plate without any leftovers. Things started to smell a little smoky after 20 minutes, but when I peeked inside it was clear that the layers of cheese and noodles were nowhere near cooked, so I closed the lid and let it finish up the recommended time. If you happen to have an Evolve Grill, I do recommend cutting the recipe in half or else being prepared to make two pans.

The user manual is not terribly well-written, but it gives basic good information for successfully cooking with this. I will say ignore the waffle recipes in the user manual, as they recommend 425 degrees for 8 minutes. They came out easily in one mass, baked but not burned, and while they were a little brittle when cooled, a reduced cooking time or temperature could resolve this. Not just for 5 years or since college or when I think that we should be nicer to animals, nope, my whole life. I can't say that I really wanted to consider a Foreman grill (still regarded it as an "infomercial gadget") but the competition did not have overwhelming positive reviews.Use the extra durable ceramic coated dishwasher safe removable plates for traditional grilling then swap the plates for the deep pan for making omelettes, pizzas and much more. Challenged to whip up a one-appliance feast guided by home economist, Emma Walker-Hughes, I couldn’t resist.
