I would certainly have an interest in dark shady (yes, shady 😑) characters like Samson but he's the cutest sht ever when he makes up his mind to do his best for the one he cares about. Aware that both their lives will be taking them in different directions at the end of the summer, Beyah and Samson agree to keep things casual, committing only to a summer fling. Despite my grievances or it could be because of my period and I’m hormonal, this book made me so emotional I hurt and I cried. Never a dull moment but yes, the explicit scenes go on and on and on like it fills up some chapters entirely towards the second half of the book when all I needed was answers and more character development and secret revelations. After a childhood filled with poverty and neglect, Beyah Grim has just two months to wait before she can escape her home town and change her life for the better, having earned a full-ride scholarship to college.Worse still, his father is married and has to share the beach house they are staying in for the summer with his wife and stepsister.

The love story: Samson and Beyah are interested in each other from the beginning when they see each other on a ferry. and in part i think she helped beyah learn that her mom had a choice in the path of her life and samson had none.

Though he isn't present in every scene, he conveys each piece of the story leading up to the murder as if he were an omniscient narrator, capable of accessing every character's interior perspective. I'm so glad though that Beyah still went to college and lived her life and she got into law school, what a badass.

Reading this one it was too predictable, yes it was a good read and I enjoyed it finishing it in a couple hours however there wasn't any wow features to it to me it was too predictable unlike her other reads there were no cliffhangers no wowzers this just fell a bit flat for me. This is the story of a summer love affair as Beyah and Samson get to know one another, sharing their darkest secrets until Samson’s past catches up with him. From page one, you can tell that there’s an intensity about the book that sets it apart from the rest; a heaviness that gives this love story such WEIGHT. It’s one of the best books I’ve read all year, hands down, and the kind of story that you’ll want to reread with fresh eyes as soon as you turn the last page. For the characters in Colleen Hoover’s 2020 novel, heart bones are things you grow when you fall in love that make an actual broken heart possible.At the risk of dating myself, it's been almost two decades since I was the age of the characters in this book. But as the summer progresses, and she lets her guard down little by little, Beyah realizes that there’s so much about Samson she doesn’t know. She has never lived with her father before, but she needs somewhere to stay for the summer before heading off to college. I really enjoyed both characters and their stories and though the book did get a bit depressing at times, it was well worth it, The book held my interest the entire time and I was actually surprised a few times.

The atmosphere of the novel, set mostly on this wild Greek island, echoes strongly the classical tragedies of Greece.Forced to reach out to her last resort, Beyah has to spend the remainder of her summer on a peninsula in Texas with a father she barely knows. I also loved how he would set an alarm on her phone and they'd watch the sunrise together, that was adorable too.
