This is an inspiring book about Muslims that have made their mark in the world. It is beautifully written and beautifully illustrated, with mini biographies long enough to give us the complete picture, but short enough to make it neat and concise. Meet just some of the amazing Muslim men and women who have changed our world - from pirate queens, nurses, warriors, scientists, actors, and mathematicians, to courageous ordinary men and women doing extraordinary things. Hasan Ibn Al-Haytham- the first scientist to prove theories about how light travels, hundreds of years before Isaac Newton

Think you know who first thought of the theory of evolution? Ever wondered who created the oldest university in the world? And have you heard the incredible tale of the masked knight - a rebel girl who became a military commander? Hasan Ibn Al-Haytham: the first scientist to prove theories about how light travels, hundreds of years before Isaac Newton. This Ramadaan I decided to learn more about my fellow Muslims.Although I knew about most of the people in this book it was still just as engaging as if I had been reading about these wonderful people for the first time. Fittingly, the book is mainly written for young Muslims who are seeking for inspiration from “their own clan”, but adults can also learn a lot from reading it, as have I while enjoying the beautiful but simple narrations. Titles include popular classics, exciting contemporary fiction, and thought-provoking non-fiction, introducing language learners to bestselling authors and compelling content.

To be able to not only find someone who looks like yourself in the illustrations, but also recognize that these people went on to accomplish greatness is very comforting. I grew up in Canada with immigrant parents. I was never allowed to celebrate Christmas. I always felt out of place and an outsider. A book like this definitely gives you a sense of belonging. There are many ways to become a good Muslim, but two of the easiest include listening to your elders and reading about those fellow Muslims who had been role models. The book, Amazing Muslims who changed the World by Burhana Islam is a must-read for you and your friends, if you want to be ‘ideal’ Muslims, in the long run.
