So when I found out she had written a spin-off series, I powered through the first three books in a week when I had Kindle Unlimited. I have been eagerly anticipating Twisted Hearts and Savio’s story as you see glimpses of his character in the first novels.

As much as I love Cora Reilly’s mafia romance books, this one wasn’t for me. For one, the two main protagonists are even younger than usual, starting when Gemma is 10 and Savio is 13. When Gemma is 13 she starts crushing on Savio and basically never stops. At the end of the book they are 18 and 21 respectively and have sworn eternal love to each other, which stretches my suspension of disbelief to the breaking point (or rather beyond) with its implied HEA. Our eyes met and he let out a harsh breath. He bent down, his expression so full of possessiveness that I shivered again. Savio shook his head. “If you keep looking at me like that, waiting until marriage isn’t going to happen, Gem.” Forgive me if this set up is a tad odd,” Pyrrha said, her composure gentle and inviting. Ruby refused to let go of Pyrrha’s hand. “I wasn’t sure if this is how people normally did things, but a note just seemed the most sensible. It made my feelings and intent clear, and as well it was the most likely to reach you. At the time, however, I feared you would have preferred that I had spoken to you face to face. I honestly thought that maybe how I asked you would have been a deal breaker…” Double Standard": Gemma is brought up in a very traditionalist mafia family, so she is expected not only to remain pure until her wedding, but her family is doing their level best to also keep her ignorant (so her friend Tony (Antonia) has to sneek her magazines talking about female "issues"). Savio is constantly making fun of his friend Diego – who is Gemma’s older brother – for trying so hard to make Gemma adhere to the outdated rules, while he himself is quite the party animal and is sexually rather promiscuous. Savio is fond of pointing out Diego’s hypocrisy, completely missing the irony that he is no less hypocritical. While he himself continues to have sex with random girls even after he makes Gemma’s father promise her to him, he expects her to remain a virgin. He playfully tries to seduce her into having pre-marital sex with him, but doesn’t really expect to get it, because the cow giving away the milk before she has been bought (as it is so nicely put in the book repeatedly), would lower her value in his eyes. So Gemma has to hold on to her innocence and at the same time she has to overlook his promiscuity.

I love Cora Reilly, Bound by Honor was my first Mafia Romance and for this reason this author and her Mafia Series will always have a piece of my heart. I'm a fan of BBMC and Camorra Chronicles and maybe I'm not the most objective person to evaluate this book..I didn't like it and I would have probably DNF it if this story was written by a different author and wasn't part of this Series. The author is German and english is not her mother language: she uses very simple sentences, no slang and the writing is often missing fluidity. Compared to her previous books I have to say that her writing (grammar/dialogue/sentences structure) has improved considerably and I'm really happy about this. aww guys.. don't you feel the love? the passion?? the LONGING?!!? ughh i feel it deep in my bones. it's true love people!

A rasgos generales, tengo la impresion que durante las 340 paginas que tiene la novela no sucede nada en lo absoluto, es solo un cumulo de escenas predecibles y monotonas que no aportan nada, y cuando al fin parece que la historia va a dar un giro y tomar un rumbo mucho mas interesante, todo queda en un simple intento de la autora. I also thought Gemma would be a badass but she just turned out another meek, naive heroine. I have no problem with that, I mostly enjoy this kind of heroine but when you read every book in the series and every female protagonist is kind of same you get bored. Besides, I haven't seen a male character such a proud manho with no redemption. Savio constantly cheated on Gemma and I didn't even get their romantic development. I am even confused if Savio even loved her or not, or just wanted her because she was hot. Gemma Bazzoli has had a crush on Savio from the first moment she came face to face with his arrogant smile, but for him she was always his best friend’s annoying little sister—until her hard-earned curves catch even his attention. Did Cora Reilly have a real life enemy named Savio 😂 ? To embarrass that said Savio she wrote this book ? this is about the second youngest Falcone brother, Savio Falcone (H) aka the worst man ho out of all of them (aka my least favorite Falcone brother), falling in lust with Gemma Bazzoli (h) aka his best friend's little sister.

A tear replaced the one that was cleaned and Ruby nodded desperately. “F-for so long.” Suddenly, everyone rose. Guided by crystal clarity, every single student in the mess hall took their trays and went out the door. All of them echoed Ruby’s sentiment, chatting happily about just how bright and sunny it was outside. Soon the mess hall was completely empty, with not so much as a teacher or a lunch lady to disturb them. However, when someone else shows interest, Savio’s jealousy comes to light and he decides he does want Gemma for himself and he will prove to the whole of the Camorra that she belongs to him. But, this doesn’t mean he’s ready to commit to her and a whole lot of drama occurs once Gemma is officially promised to Savio.
