B-B-Buffer overflow!” (Dave Kerr & Sarah Parsons) The sell price of Epic Wubbox increases with each additional monster boxed, although not exactly by an amount equal to the sell price of the boxed monster. They are the only designs to not take the center spot in the Fabled Book of Monsters, instead both appearing to the right of Common Wubbox. Wubbox is the first Monster to not have the Common egg shape of Monsters, having a cube-shaped egg, rather than a round one.
On January 3rd, 2017, Rare Wubbox was added to the StarShop on Water Island and Earth Island. Rare Wubbox was also fixed for people who had Rare Wubbox before it was officially added to the StarShop, which was unofficially released on December 23rd, 2016. If a Wubbox is inactive, but still has some Monsters boxed, the spirals and orbs on its arms will occasionally glow a faint blue. Unlike other Rares, who have songs identical to their counterpart, this Wubbox's sound is a medley of synthesized garbling and vocalized words, with a voice similar to that of someone speaking through a talkbox on keyboard or a vocoder. Its voice is so distorted that it is difficult to make out what it's saying. On Earth Island, it says “Wub up the volume, wub up the volume, wub- wub- wub-wub-wub-wub-wub up the volume! Bad request. Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba- Bad request. Error! E-E-Error! E-E-E-E-E- E-E-Error! Bad request. Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba-Ba- Bad request." (Dave Kerr & other unknown voices) Currently, Epic Wubbox, along with the Celestials, are the only monsters that are obtained solely through spending Diamonds and have no other way to acquire it.Similar to on Plant Island, Epic Wubbox makes percussive noises, but on this island, it makes a chime/jingle bell sound. It also plays a timpani drum, and its synth growls stay the same. It also makes a whooshing sound, that sounds similar to a car engine starting up; but failing to do so due to being in the cold for so long. As these and other mysteries continue to tantalize, the Wubbox enthusiastically sings and dances alongside its Ethereal friends, and even produces Shards too! It uses technical words such as "error", "loading", "volume", and "overflow", like when a computer receives an error or when the loading bar is low, medium or high. The Monster-Handlers initially kept the lyrics of Rare Wubbox up to interpretation, but they were confirmed in the Anniversary Celebration 2021 trailer. Before this, some members of the community had interpreted the lyrics as malicious in nature or being lyrics sung in fear by the boxed Rare Monsters. On Gold Island, the tune is shorter and becomes more harmonious with those of the other monsters. On Ethereal Island, Wubbox plays only once in the whole song. When it debuted on Cold Island, there was a bug where Epic Wubbox's egg in the Nursery would be replaced with a red box with the Epic monster egg shimmer inside of it. Similarly, when it was released on Water and Earth Island, its egg was also bugged. It was fixed shortly after. This also happened with Epic Thrumble.
Before version 3.9.3, on Water Island and Earth Island, the disc on Rare Wubbox's chest didn't move when it sang its song. On Ethereal Island, the disc moves periodically. This is the only Monster that has different sounding Rare and Epic variants. It is also the only Common monster with a Rare variant that has a different animation than it.
