About this deal

After years of collecting, buying and selling, building and painting, we realised that we had amassed a small library of Build Instructions, Assembly Instructions and User Guides for various Games Workshop products. Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns with any of the results you have seen here! And of course, I welcome all suggestions for future simulations! Several of the upgrades directly modify stats. Extra Armour adds 1 to the Toughness characteristic of every side for 25 credits. Nitro burner increases the Movement characteristic by 1″ for 15 credits. Reinforced Armour increases the starting HP by 1 for 20 credits. Finally wheeled vehicles can take Tyre Claws and/or All-Wheel Steering to add 1 to the Handling characteristic for 10 credits each. Oddly there’s no way to improve the Save characteristic. For weathered effects, apply subtle streaks using Rhinox Hide or create chipping with Typhus Corrosion to simulate wear and tear. To get river/lake looking shiny I just kinda pour some gloss varnish from the bottle on, you will want a paper clip or something to poke any bubbles. The penultimate step is painting the rims with your choice of paint, in this case I used dryad to match my Tyranids. The last model thing the models need is to throw on some tufts, I like using these ones from Gamers Grass:

Genestealer Cults are some particularly interesting antagonists in the 40k fiction. They haven’t really had a chance to shine as protagonists in their own right, but show up in various roles in other books as threats of varying levels. I haven’t read these, but if you’re interested in reading more, I’ve generally heard good things about the following books: This vital data is transmitted to the cult gene-sect's headquarters, where it can be absorbed and disseminated by a Nexos strategist. Other Ridgerunners carry flare launchers, usually employed for signalling and coordinating ambushes and outflanking manoeuvres -- though at a pinch they can also level a smokescreen to hide the vehicle's advance. A good source for inspiration for Genecult colour schemes is to look at their tentacle-mawed gods’s own. After all, it’d make sense they wanna emulate the giant space bugs they’re desperately trying to summon right? The 2019 codex features 2 minor cults that do this with the Sons of Jormungandr and the Behemoid Undercult parroting the schemes for Hive Fleets Jormungandr and Behemoth respectively, with and this formed the basis for my own cult’s scheme based off the cold minty chitin of Hive Fleet Tiamet. Cult of the Warmason by CL Werner is primarily about the Sisters of Battle going up against a Genestealer Cults infestation on the shrine world of Lubentina. I find it really useful to paint the heads as a separate subassembly, it really helps to get the faces right if you have 360 degree access to them, rather than struggling to paint them when they’re surrounded by a high collar.

Opening Times

Having finished construction I decided that I would leave the missile launcher off as it would be challenging to pain in situ. Going from a 175 credit heavy chassis to a 280 credit Ridgehauler with a container requires a lot. You need multiple Toughness boosts (+35 credits assuming increasing just the front is the equivalent of 10 credits), 2 more HP (+40 credits), an extra hardpoint (+40 credits) and an extra 7 firing arcs (+105 credits), 2″ more movement (+20 credits), +1 to Handling (+10 credits), transport bed (+15 credits), a Weapons Stash (+20 credits, although the upgrade can be exhausted), and pay whatever the equivalent of boosting a Save will be (assuming +25 credits here). That’s roughly a 485 credit total, meaning the Ridgehauler has an absolutely insane 205 credit discount. Not to mention it makes you money while giving you the option to upgrade it further. Lighten the Genestealer Flesh Mix with Pallid Wych Flesh (2:1) and layer carefully on raised areas. For crew members, use Rakarth Flesh for a natural look. Enhance interior details with Mournfang Brown for contrasts.

AMLs appear to perform better than the HML against elite infantry at first glance. The consistency and similar ability to wound as the HML, means the AML performs better at each stage of different buffs. This is especially clear, when you consider the Crossfire buff comparison, where the HML has a dominating chance to do nothing whereby the AML has the best chance to kill one model. The consistency of damage will help prevent non-optimal damage from being applied, allowing the AHM to more consistently kill at least one model. However, due to the inability of the AHM to put out anymore than just 2 damage per shot, it is virtually incapable of killing a unit of three Blightlord Terminators in one turn. For reference below is the probability of killing a three man squad of blightlord terminators in one turn. Chance to Kill 3 Blightlord Terminators in One TurnWhile playing test games is the best way to understand your options, it’s hard to get in enough games to understand all the variables at play and arrive at a reasonable set of expectations. Have no fear though! I am here to help by giving you an in depth look at what you should really expect out of a unit or piece of wargear. Note, your chance to one shot the Redemptor increases by quite a lot if fully buffed when using the HML, while the AML will never do it. Mutant Flesh: – Wash with a 50/50 mix of Coelia Greenshade/Lhamian Medium. – Apply a light 60/40 mix of Coleia Greenshade/Lhamian Medium to the more prominent crevices and separations in the alien arms. – Soft Drybrush VGC Ghost Grey with a round-tipped makeup brush, focusing on the most prominent raised edges and features (face, hands etc). Build up a few light layers on the smooth areas of the head this way to help blend into the darker skin. – Edge Highlight with Pallid Wych Flesh. With the Genestealer Cult codex fresh on the scene, one of my favorite units in the codex has gotten more interesting: The Ridgerunner! It has two juicy options: the Heavy Mining Laser (HML) and the Achilles Missile Launcher (AML). The question that comes to mind once you read their stats is: Decorative Metal (Icons, Leaders’ Weapons): – Base with Balthasar Gold. – Wash with Agrax Earthshade. – Drybrush with Hashut Copper. – Lightly Drybrush with Sycorax Bronze, focused on the edges.
