We normally deliver products between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, unless by prior arrangement. We do not offer delivery on Saturdays, Sundays, or bank holidays, and we may have a reduced delivery schedule at various times of the year and during peak times, e.g., Christmas, we may have extended delivery dates. Bill Lumsden made the series in American oak casks and Spanish sherry casks from near Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The Ardbeg Smoketrails has an intense character and 46%. Its taste is both smooth and smoky at the same time: it ranges from salty sea spray to nutty aromas and chocolate - every sip leaves you wanting more! Each edition — to be released in batches every year — will be a marriage of Ardbeg matured in American oak casks and Ardbeg matured in secondary casks sourced from around the world. The first release, Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition, marries whisky matured in American oak casks with whisky matured in Manzanilla Sherry casks from Sanlúcar de Barrameda on Spain’s Atlantic coast. Nose Ardbeg Smoketrails Côte Rôtie Edition is a true traveler's exclusive, making it available only in international destinations. The release plan involves a phased rollout. Initially, it will be accessible in airports across the United Kingdom, allowing travelers to embark on their whisky journey. Shortly thereafter, airports in Europe will join in, followed by Asia and America in early 2024. Given the sheer number of operational whisky distilleries, releasing a Manzanilla Sherry -aged whisky isn’t something particularly revolutionary these days. That said, I’d point out that amongst the main styles of Sherry, Manzanilla is one of the lightest and driest, with low sugar levels and often a tangy, yeasty, savoury character. These influences and flavours are significantly different from the more common types of rich or sweet Sherry used for whisky maturation, the likes of Oloroso or Pedro Ximénez. The Ardbeg Distillery has been in Islay since 1815 and tells of almost two centuries of turbulent whiskey history. Ardbeg was founded by John McDougall and bought 20 years later by Glasgow merchant Thomas Buchanan. Under new ownership it was very prosperous and by 1877 employed nearly a third of the islanders. Despite its ups and downs over time, the distillery lives on to this day and the stories of whiskey from days gone by resonate in every sip, even with Ardbeg Smoketrails!
