About this deal

B&W doesn't offer levels of noise cancellation like some competitors do, and instead keeps things simple with on, off and pass-through. That's no problem for us - a good transparency mode is more than enough for our needs, but it's something to consider if you like to tweak your noise cancellation levels further than that. The case also feels premium, with a compartment for the two cables included (Image credit: Future) Bowers & Wilkins review: features

The extra energy, depth, emotional oomph and overall immersion in excellent-quality music place the PX8 in a different league –which is understandable and this statement is not intended to put the Sennheiser headphones down. What we're saying is, if your budget stretches to this level, the sonic gains are worth it in the sound-per-pound stakes. The sound here is exceptional –but you do have to pay for it. The headband is lovely and cushioned, as are those slightly smaller earcups (Image credit: Future) Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2: design and featuresThis B&W PX7 is stunning, I'm so glad that I made the right choice, was conpare Sony WH1000xm3& Bose 700, the PX7 wins my ear! someone may notice the build quality like Sony is very plastic look, and I went to Cost co to test out the WH-1000xm3 ,it acutraly broken .....must be many ppl touch it,. same as the Bose QC35, plastic feel. When the original Pi7 were released, I described them as the best-sounding noise-cancelling earbuds I’d tested. The S2 sound just as good and I can’t think of any buds I’d rather listen to for hours on end. This is a refined listen too without sounding overly smooth. The Px8 are certainly revealing enough to show up shortcomings in the source or recording, so you’ll need to make sure the signal feed into them is good enough to allow them to shine. A slightly cool tonal balance doesn’t help them to be forgiving either, though they won’t go out of their way to make things sound worse than they are. Of course, B&W expects most users to listen to music over Bluetooth. The Px7 S2 have Bluetooth 5.2 with support for SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive codecs (the same as the Px8), the latter three of which provide Android devices with a higher-quality (though still lossy) wireless connection. For those who watch or play games on their phone, aptX Adaptive can be particularly useful as it allows dynamic bit-rate variation to avoid connection issues in congested wireless environments. These are over-ears you'll want to be seen in –ideally, on a yacht in the Maldives (Image credit: Future) Bowers & Wilkins PX8 review: design

Of course, that's all very nice indeed, but how they sound when you put them on your head is what really matters. And it may not surprise you to hear that B&W has not dropped the ball from a performance perspective. The PX7s are clear evolutions of their predecessors, with a branded badge and fabric finish on the elliptical earcups. There have also been some revisions to the design in the name of improved comfort. Their price tag won’t be easy to swallow for many, but the detail, dynamic and organisational improvements these offer over the rest of the B&W headphones range, makes them worthy of their price, not to mention their flagship status. While I’m a big fan of their sound quality, the Bowers & Wilkins Pi7 S2 are a little restrained in terms of sonic output. Their maximum volume doesn’t hit the same heights as many other buds out there, which is a good thing if you’re looking to protect your ears from long-term damage, but there were a few occasions when I was left craving greater volume. All in all (and at the risk of overstating ourselves) we really really like the premium look and feel of these headphones.

The PXs upscale all audio to 768kHz - B&W claims doing this helps improve noise-cancelling and DSP performance" The PX8's two strongest suits are glorious looks and exemplary sound quality. If these two features are of paramount importance to you, the PX8 represent some of the best noise cancelling headphones you can buy –but you do have to pay top dollar for the privilege of ownership.
