The new Yoto app update (which is coming soon) will enable the Yoto app to send alerts if the temperature in your child’s room becomes too hot or too cold. It’s worth noting that the temperature isn’t displayed on the player itself, but I still think this is a really helpful and useful feature for parents.
Set the volume (crucial if they’re insisting on blasting it at full volume when you’re wanting some peace!) Simply record audio in the Yoto app on your smartphone – this could be something like you or a loved one reading a bedtime story for your child – or upload compatible audio files to the app then save to a blank Yoto card. Having tried both, I think the screen and nightlight gives Yoto Player the edge, but your kids may disagree based on the fun Tonies figures! Intermittent connections between your device and the charger can also occur due to damage in either one of them. This typically results in an inconsistent flow of power which can cause issues when charging your device such as slower than expected charging speeds or difficulties turning on/off depending on how much energy has been stored up within each device beforehand. Replacing both components would be ideal in this situation as this would ensure that you have a fully functioning connection between them once again. The biggest difference for parents in the market to get one audio player toy for their kids is the price. One of the big improvements in functionality from the 3rd generation Yoto is that it has DOUBLE the storage capacirty of the original – with 32GB rather than 16. This means if you are planning to use the Yoto outside of the home – such as during travel, on holiday or when visiting friends with no wifi connection, you can hold significantly more content directly on the device to access offline. 32gb is enough storage for around 600 hours of content – which is a pretty impressive upgrade. There are hundreds to choose from, with content to suit all ages! The range of Cards includes Roald Dahl and Beatrix Potter classics, as well as modern Marvel superhero adventure stories. Smart tablet, it is not – I say this very begrudgingly because this is both a pro and a con. It is one of the things I love about the Yoto and one of the things my children don’t. It is a story audio device, and if you are wanting something that your child can play with or spend time engaging with, it’s unlikely that this will fit that criteria.

You’ll of course need to supervise younger children with the Player, but I think it is a great toy for those younger ages too. As an age-appropriate introduction to tech, it’s hard to beat. The Mini is more convenient for travel and is a cheaper option with all of the best features of the Player. The stereo sound alone probably won’t sell it for kids – mine don’t seem to really notice. And there’s no major changes to what the player can ultimately do, which is play Yoto Cards and the free content provided by Yoto. Final thoughts on Yoto PlayerAnd Yoto Mini has up to 16GB of storage, while Yoto Player has double that with 32GB of space for your child to listen to their favourite stories on the go. Since writing this review Yoto has brought out its 3rd Generation Yoto Player. So what’s different. Replacing a damaged Yoto charger is the best option when you experience any of the following power issue warning signs. The most common sign is difficulty turning on your phone, or other devices connected to the charger. In some cases, your device may be able to turn on but it may not charge. This can be a sign that the charger is faulty and should be replaced. Other signs include slow charging speeds, an intermittent connection between your device and the charger, or a burning smell coming from the charger. Power Issue Warning Signs & Solution Audio – The audio is loud enough for your child to listen comfortably, but even on full volume it is not offensive to your ears. A: Resetting your Yoto charger can be done through a hard reset or a software reset procedure. Another power issue warning sign is slow charging speeds when compared to before. If you notice that your device takes significantly longer than usual to charge then it could be due to a faulty connection between the two components or because of a weak current coming from the charger itself. The best solution for this problem would be to buy a new Yoto charger and replace it with the one thats currently being used. The Yoto Player is incredibly easy to use and will be something your child will get many hours of use from. In terms of making life easier, this for me, is Yoto’s biggest selling point. As previously mentioned, it is a huge help in the bedtime routine. I also really love the night light feature. My eldest son has a slight fear of the dark and was overjoyed when he learnt his robot would keep him safe. What changes would you make to the Yoto Player? Within a week of receiving the Yoto Player, as a family we're reaching for the television remote less and, it might be a coincidence, but my son seems chattier than ever.
