Clean the surface thoroughly using soap and water or ammonia and water (depending on what type of material your stove is made from). Let dry before proceeding. CAUTION: Do not use any type of paint or other coating over the silicone sealant! Doing so will create an obstacle that prevents future oxygen from entering your stove.
