About this deal

An insanely good crime series. Extraordinarily well written, high quality and high drama all the way’ Liz Loves Books

For Hunter, there is no doubt that the killer is trying to communicate with the police, but the method is unlike anything he’s ever seen before. And what could the hidden message be? Robert Hunter arrives to the most vicious crime scene of his career. It is made even more disturbing when the autopsy reveals a poem, left by the killer, inside the body of their victim.A journal ends up on Robert Hunter's desk. It soon becomes clear that there is a serial killer on the loose. But then he decided to try his hand at writing. His debut has proved to be a successful endeavor with twelve more titles following it. All of them feature his protagonist of Robert Hunter and have been translated and published in many languages and countries. Labai patiko ir Andželos personažas. Tikrai nesupykčiau, jei kažkokiu būdu, ji dar grįžtų į būsimas istorijas.

Perhaps I shouldn't be too harsh, considering the terrible loss he suffered recently. It must have been really hard to pen a book whilst enduring such pain. Release date for this book is 23rd July 2020 and I 100% recommend going and getting yourself a copy. Puiki dalis, kupina veiksmo, įtampos ir galvosūkių. Nors Hanteris gudrus, šį kartą jo varžovas tikrai jam nenusileido. Bob Mortimer wins 2023 Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize for Comic Fiction with The Satsuma Complex

Summary

The story itself is, of course, gruesome and scary and reminiscent of ‘The Hostel’ in some ways with a touch of the ‘SAW’ ideas and a helping of 24 slung in, other than that I am not going into the plot other than to say I am not exaggerating when I say I shuddered, quite a few times, the killer is multi layered and cleverly you almost, almost understand what has driven them...other than that you are on your own to discover this story And that´s just the industrial world, imagine what must go in in the Southern hemisphere or in the areas of Europe and North America that are under control by organized crime. If one single person with special skills, talent, and motivation could do it, what could the criminal franchise equivalent of a megacorporation conglomerate do, let´s say a cooperation of Asian, Russian, and European crime syndicates that don´t fight, but work together and help each other? A gripping and intense psychological thriller with a very good plot and great characters that really draw you in. What is even more disturbing is that, with such a setting, nobody is safe anymore. Before, it were certain main target audiences that got the most attention and deadly love by serial killers, but by imagining such a scenario, everyone could be a coincidental kill. Hope that the voices don´t have too specific wishes.

When Robert Hunter, a Detective with the LAPD's Homicide Special Section, receives an anonymous call directing him to go to a certain private web broadcast, a show designed specifically for him begins as soon as he logs in. If I have any quibbles on the plot it is probably the Detective Garcia character who I thought was weak being used mostly as someone for Hunter to explain things to, even when he does reach his own conclusion we are usually reminded that Hunter had got there before him . . . as if we didn't already know. Garcia needs to be pepped up with more of his own personality rather than just being a prop for Hunter. With no forensic evidence to go on, Robert Hunter must catch the most disciplined and systematic killer that he has ever encountered, someone who thrives on the victims’ fear, and to whom death is a lesson that needs to be taught. Jeder macht mal Fehler, und dann brauchen wir jemanden, der uns hilft, denn keiner kann immer stark sein."Take a Look at Our Summary of November Highlights, Whether You're Looking for the Latest Releases or Gift Inspiration I am not sure if there is a bit of autobiographic fatalistic pessimism and nihilism in there too, could be subjective and thereby wrong, but regarding the circumstances of the creation of this work, it could easily be possible that we are seeing a reappraisal of life and preferences after a tragedy hit one of the most amazing thriller authors out there. The police caption Blake was also a complete jerk. After the failure to catch the killer, she was so disparaging. And she was not supporting the detectives in any way. They didn't even know that there were some recent victims, who could be alive. All they had to do was read the complete diary.

Soon, there is the discovery of another body. The methods and signature of the murder differs, but the level of violence used suggests that the same person is behind both crimes. Hunter’s fears are confirmed when a second part of the poem is found. Not wanting to give away any spoilers, but the lead female character was rather annoying. I found myself at one stage wishing that she would.... let's leave it at that. For someone so supposedly smart, most of her actions were damn stupid. This led me to feel that the book was not as polished as some of previous ones in the series. It felt like a rush job. It’s not long before the book is in the hands of Hunter and his partner, Detective Carlos Garcia. Angela had left it anonymously in a colleague’s mailbox, but an incriminating fingerprint on one of the photos stapled inside leads them to her. As she’s brought in for questioning, things look bleak. The book contains the thoughts of a seasoned serial killer who relishes describing their crimes in detail, down to the map reference of where the bodies were buried. When will the bad guys learn that they have to kill the hero when they get the opportunity, and not start baring their souls. The writing was mediocre. The number of times he used the idiom 'The penny dropped!'. That is a really nice phrase, but you don't have to use it so many times. The author seemed to have got bored midway. My usual pragmatic self was somewhat surprised the detectives didn’t race through the book trying to find and identify the sixteen or so victims, but guess that would have been a tad laborious for we readers. A journal ends up on Robert Hunter’s desk. It soon becomes clear that there is a serial killer on the loose. The dim-witted Angela Wood. She had read the book and knew what the killer is capable of, but [ all she wanted to was stream music from internet. oh Really ! I didn't feel any sympathy for her. Why was Hunter even feeling guilty for not having kept her safe. I wished she suffered for her actions, but unfortunately she came out relatively unscathed. I thought there was a twist here, where Angela would turn out to be the killer's accomplice (why else would she connect to the internet, when she was specifically asked not to ) Then i thought she would redeem herself by helping Hunter. Instead he was begging for her life. You know how on a TV series where something changes and they suddenly have two characters who never interact try and build a strong friendship in one episode to change the course of the show, and how forced it is? This is every interaction in the book.
