Skin reactions

Be careful not to slip when using emollients in a bath or shower, or on a tiled floor. Protect the floor with a non-slip mat, towel or sheet. Wear protective gloves, wash your bath or shower afterwards with hot water and washing-up liquid, then dry with a kitchen towel. Skin irritation from aqueous cream This avoids diluting the effect of the treatment and spreading it to areas of skin that do not need it. When to apply emollients Zeroderm Ointment is a rich emollient used to moisture and soften dry skin in eczema, dry cases of psoriasis and other dry skin conditions. Mix a small amount (around teaspoonful) of leave-on emollient or soap substitute in the palm of your hand with a little warm water and spread it over damp or dry skin. Emollient bath additive for the management of dry skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. This product is suitable for infants and children. Adverse reactions: Rarely, mild allergic reactions such as skin rash can occur. If you notice any side effects or the condition worsens while using the product, stop use and tell your doctor or pharmacist. They will tell you what to do. Precautions: Emollients are often used to help manage dry, itchy or scaly skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and ichthyosis. Emollients can be applied as often as you like to keep the skin well moisturised and in good condition. Ideally, this should be done at least 3 or 4 times a day.

Types of emollients

As an emollient: Children under 1: Seek HCP advice before use. Adults and children: Apply to the affected area of skin as required. As a skin cleanser: Apply to the skin using hands or wash cloth, then rinse off. Date of preparation: Fragrance-free 2-in-1 moisturising cream and wash with natural oatmeal (avena sativa kernal flour) for use in the management of dry skin conditions as may be found in eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, ichthyosis, elderly pruritus and other dry skin conditions. Adverse reactions: Purified Water, Paraffin White Soft 15% w/w, Cetostearyl Alcohol, Liquid Paraffin 6% w/w, Macrogol Cetostearyl Ether, Chlorocresol. Indications: Apply the cream to the skin. Children under 1: Seek HCP advice before use. Adults, the elderly and children: A thin application of the cream should be gently massaged into the skin three times daily or at appropriate intervals. When used as a protective barrier cream, Zeroguent should be applied sparingly to the affected areas of the skin before or immediately after exposure to a potentially harmful factor.
