The images aren't as impressive as something premium like the Homestar Flux — if super vivid imagery is what you expect — but the price point is much lower. You can power it with either a user-supplied 5V DC power cable or three AA batteries which are included. Most star projectors come with a 'sleep timer' that will switch the device off after a specified amount of minutes. More of a mood-setting light, showing colors and patterns that reflect galaxies and nebulas with lasers that you could associate with a starry sky.
We first reviewed the astronaut starry sky projector in the daytime with natural light coming in through the windows. As with the models mentioned above, the 'stars' or 'nebulae' aren't at all scientific like they are in the Sega Toys Homestar Flux or the National Geographic Astro Planetarium, but are very bright and other-worldly and can be customized into various configurations and speeds. The lights and laser dots are clearly visible, and the colors are rich and easily distinguishable. Obviously, the darker the environment, the more impressive the display. Then there are scientific home planetariums that generally project 'real imagery,' so you can study and enjoy projections of real galaxies and nebulas from the comfort of your own home without investing in expensive astronomy equipment. These are much more likened to the more traditional planetariums that teach astronomy and related sciences. With three ridges on the bottom, you can easily adjust this projector to project at three different angles, including upwards onto a ceiling. It combines an LED and a direct laser diode to create dynamic RGB projections with moving patterns. It's portable and convenient to use thanks to the USB power cable, allowing you to power it from a computer or portable battery. The 5-Watt LED projects pin-sharp images across the whole projection, from edge to edge. The operation is quiet, and there are three sleep timers for automatic shut-off. There's no remote, app control, or in-built speaker, but these aren't functions you'll need if all you're doing is selecting your desired disk and switching the projector on to gaze at the stars.

After all, what's on offer here is merely some tiny holes in cardboard positioned over a lamp. The resulting image is pretty basic, of course, but how you get there is the clever part. Though clearly not a scientific star projector, it would transform your gaming room, party atmosphere or sleeping environment. As the motor is very quiet — near silent, in fact, the motor noise won't be a distraction, allowing you to focus on the immersive and impressive light patterns. Once again, we're not sure what we love most about this feature-rich Aurora Borealis Northern Lights Star Projector. You can easily choose between a whopping 16.7 million Aurora colors by using the buttons on the device, the remote control that comes with it or your smartphone to control it.In reference to Class IIIa lasers (like laser pointers or some used in star projectors), the FDA says: ' Depending on power and beam area, can be momentarily hazardous when directly viewed or when staring directly at the beam with an unaided eye. Risk of injury increases when viewed with optical aids.' As expected, the patterns are clearer and more defined when projected onto a close surface. We (and our children) find some of the nebula more interesting than others; we particularly favor those with two contrasting colors. The brightness of the lights can be adjusted via the remote, allowing five different brightness levels. The laser has slightly reduced options of three brightness levels and can be turned off entirely if you'd prefer.
Star projectors come in different shapes, specifications and sizes because they serve various purposes. Some models are designed as night lights for children, so they are simpler and prioritize creating a pleasant atmosphere rather than realistic star patterns. On the other hand, there are highly accurate star projectors that provide a scientific representation of the night sky, giving you the experience of being inside a planetarium. The Pococo Galaxy Star Projector is a worthy addition to this guide, and it is a good rival to the National Geographic Astro Planetarium and the much more expensive Sega Homestar Flux. We were really impressed with the Orzorz Galaxy Night Light when we reviewed it recently. It easily rivals the Sega Homestar Flux in terms of image quality and functionality and comes at a fraction of the cost. The Bliss Lights Sky Lite Evolve would be perfect in a gaming room, during a party, at a movie night or as a relaxation tool to unwind or drift off to sleep with. There are three models in the range — blue, green, or no lasers. This projector would be most suited to a child's bedroom, just be mindful that the lasers aren't pointing directly in anyone's line of sight — pretty easy to accomplish given the positioning flexibility the magnetic space helmet allows. If it's the ambiance of the nebulae patterns and colors that are more important to you than scientific accuracy, the Encalife Aurora Borealis Northern Lights Star Projector may be a good feature-rich alternative. This projector creates a non-scientific but realistic-looking Aurora that can be app controlled. You can personalize your experience by choosing from millions of color combinations. The projector also comes with an in-built speaker. The 'musical rhythm mode' can change the Aurora, stars and moons depending on whatever music is playing, ideal for creating an appropriate ambiance — for example, slow-moving patterns to accompany soothing bedtime sounds or fast-paced kitchen party mode — and it's surprisingly effective.
