He reached up to gently pull the elastic from my hair, combing his fingers through the waves as they splayed over my shoulders. Even that massage on my scalp felt good, and I closed my eyes, swaying into him. I chewed on the end of the pen, wondering if I should include any other details. It had been too dark to tell what color his eyes were. His voice had been deep, with a rasp, almost... but I couldn't write that. If my body was found in the woods behind the house, and investigators were competent enough to do a forensic analysis of this notebook, I didn't want editorializing words complicating the narrative. Words like compelling, or god forbid, sexy.”The truth was that I had been alone, for a while. But it had always been the way I liked it, where i called all the shots and I was responsible only to myself. It never felt lonely. It's like when someone sings something technically very well, but there is zero emotion in it. That's how I felt about this book. Not as awful as she first appeared-I tried looking at her through Sam’s eyes-to TRY to see what HE saw in her. OMG! Phoebe and Sam might be one of the most adorable quirkiest, unconventional and extremely lovable couple! As she pulls up to the house in the middle of the night a strange man in bare feet emerges from the dark. He’s offering to assist her!😱 Phoebe’ serial-killer radar lights up…convinced he must be a murderer! Sure, he’s simply a school teacher that lives next door. But who knows what he does in his off time? Right!?

Thompson’s clever premise is a trendy hook for a romance that explores family, grief, and the relationships that define us.”— Washington Independent Review of Books Turns out that reading nothing but true crime isn't exactly conducive to modern dating—and one woman is going to have to learn how to give love a chance when she's used to suspecting the worst. Love in the Time of Serial Killers is funny, sharp, and thoughtful. --Sarah Hogle, author of You Deserve Each OtherI get that it’s supposed be more about Phoebe’s personal growth and working through trauma. But all of that is tied to a rushed romance that just didn’t land for me.

Speaking of chemistry, the love scenes are very, VERY open-door and graphic. I wouldn’t say the book is pornmance, but it comes close. Just a heads up. Meanwhile, I felt restless and pent-up and like if I didn't have him inside me right then I would explode. PhD candidate Phoebe Walsh has always been obsessed with true crime. That’s all for now. I’m Lester Holt. Thanks for joining us. *Cue ethereal humming and smooth guitar outro music.*

If you are in your twenties, I BET you will relate to this story more than I did-especially if you enjoy steamy “open door” bedroom scenes in your ROMANCE novels (another NO for me!) It could be a perfect book for you.

Naturally, she initially thinks the worst of the barefoot guy who appears out of nowhere late one night-offering to help her carry her desk into her deceased father’s home as she is arriving to move in temporarily-tasked with clearing it out to get it ready to sell. It’s criminal how much we enjoyed Love in the Time of Serial Killers, the perfect pairing of intrigue with utterly charming romance and a deeply relatable story of how sometimes life’s most complicated mystery is how to open your heart.” —Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka, authors of The Roughest Draft PDF / EPUB File Name: Love_in_the_Time_of_Serial_Killers_-_Alicia_Thompson.pdf, Love_in_the_Time_of_Serial_Killers_-_Alicia_Thompson.epub The only thing that would make me not call this a romance is that Sam (our hero) is simply not flawed. He doesn’t really have an arc besides fixing up a guitar. He doesn’t have family issues or personal woes and barely even has a bad romantic past. He’s a straight up good guy. Having a romance hero (and main character) be pretty one-dimensional makes the book feel more like a personal arc and self-growth contemporary fiction than a true romance.A criminally addictive romance. With excellent wry humor, lovably messy characters, and so many heart-squeezing moments, this book is sheer perfection from beginning to end. Phoebe and Sam have a permanent spot on my list of favorite fictional couples. --Rachel Lynn Solomon, national bestselling author of Weather Girl The only people I liked were Connor and his girlfriend (who's name I forgot) because they were normal, happy people who didn't judge everyone everywhere they went. (Phoebe obviously judged them and felt superior the whole time.) Alicia Thompson's romance debut is an utterly charming delight. A hilarious and heartfelt love letter to anyone who's ever gotten swept away by a personal interest. With toe curling swoons, witty banter, and enough true crime references to make Truman Capote proud, this is not one to be missed."-- Sonia Hartl, author of Heartbreak For Hire But that had hurt my pride, not my heart. And I think it was that phrase that had burrowed deep, like a splinter - my whole heart. Had I ever given anyone or anything that much of myself? Did I even want to?”
