About this deal

Well, more than two years later, the current keyboard is still one of the best notebook inputs on the market. The keyboard of our review unit is identical to the input of the already reviewed T440s. We can support the numerous descriptions; you get a very convenient typing experience (concave shaped keys). We also want to mention the slightly different Lenovo layout at this point. Touchpad Investing in a Lenovo Ideapad 5 Series 11th Generation laptop will be well worth your time and money if you need a long-term computing solution. Any gamer or designer who relies on a rich multimedia experience or requires a large amount of storage and memory will appreciate the peace of mind that comes with having their hardware kept up to date. Now, let us talk about the display itself. Starting with the display resolution, there are two resolution options, but they are both not impressive. For comparison: The Dell Latitude E6440had an HD+ display with an average brightness of 314 cd/m²and a maximum contrast of 389:1; the thin Latitude E7440can also beequipped with an optional Full HD IPS panel (matte, non-touch) in addition to the base configuration with an HD panel. Our review determined an average brightness of around 300 cd/m² and a contrast of 869:1 for the Full HD version. Our recently reviewed HP EliteBook 840 G1 (HD display) is also slightly better with an average brightness of 280 cd/m² and a contrast of 405:1.

In a bid to help you decide which processor is best, you should be aware that the Intel Core i7-4600U processor is more powerful. The ThinkPad T440p shows all the signs that it should be a very quiet notebook. With a sound pressure level of 28.2 dB(A), the conventional hard drive is hardly audible. Under minimal load, the fan stays off for a long while, ensuring a very low noise level. If it had a solid-state drive, the machine would probably run silently. However, as soon as the fan turns on, the user is blasted by an unusually loud noise that sounds almost like gunfire - in our test model, at least. This could be because of a defective fanin our test machine. Alternative processors for the T440 include an i5-4300U, i5-4200Uas well as the i3-4010Uentry-level version. Our benchmark comparison clearly shows that our i7 version has a noticeable lead of +13%, +33% and +46% (compare 4300U, 4200U and 4010U) in the Single-thread test. The advantage over the i5 chips is, however, rather small in the Multi-thread test, only the i3-4010 is significantly slower due to the missing Turbo Boost. It has been almost two years since we reviewed the direct predecessor, the Lenovo ThinkPad T430, but a lot has changed in that time. Powered by Intel’s Ultrabookinitiative, cases get smaller, very efficient processors offer the same level of performance, but the power consumption and cooling requirements have been reduced significantly. Modern business notebooks have to be sufficiently mobile and also nice to look at. You should be aware that high scores on this test denote better performance. In the test, the Lenovo ThinkPad T440 scored 3349points.In addition to the gaming performance above, I will be sharing the laptop’s performance on a 3Dmark benchmark test. A 3Dmark test determines a computer’s 3D graphic renderingability. All things considered, the ThinkPad T440 is a quiet device during standard office tasks. The fan is usually deactivated during light workloads, for instance, text editing or web browsing. Only a slight murmur of the hard drive (31.5 dB(A) or 1.6 sone) is audible in this case. Configurations with an SSD would therefore be completely silent. The IdeaPad 5 Series laptops are equipped with Intel's 11th generation processors or even the Ryzen 4000/5000 series with up to 8 Cores. Compared to their predecessors, these have improved performance and battery life. The 11th Generation Intel® CoreTM i5-1135G7 processor in the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Series combines careful design, and quality touches with more than adequate hardware. For the dedicated graphics card, this laptop features an NVIDIA GeForce GT 720M. This graphics card has a base frequency of 625 MHz and a boost frequency of 938 MHz.

The maximum temperature on the upper side is 32.4 °C / 90 F, compared to the average of 34.2 °C / 94 F, ranging from 21.2 to 62.5 °C for the class Office. If you’re after laptop buying advice, I’m your man. I’ve been reviewing PCs and technology products for more than a decade. I cut my teeth in PC Labs, spending several years with PCMag.com before writing for other outlets, among them LaptopMag.com and Tom’s Guide. While computers are my main focus, I’ve also written at length about topics ranging from fitness gear and appliances to TV and home theater equipment. If I’ve used it, I have opinions about it, whether somebody’s paying me to write them up or not. For the purpose of this Lenovo ThinkPad T440 review, let us focus on a model of this laptop with an HD+ (1600 x 900 pixels) resolution display. You should be aware that some models of this laptop with HD+ resolution are touch-enabled while others are not. Hence, if you need the fastest storage speed, you should buy a model of this laptop with SATA 3 storage. However, if you want a model with the largest storage capacity, the 5400 RPM SATA HDD option is the one for you. For the purpose of this Lenovo ThinkPad T440review, let’s discuss the performance of this laptop with a 1 TB SATA HDD. You can also expect that the touch-enabled models will be more expensive than the non-touch models.

Meanwhile, for the touch models of this laptop, they can have a weight of 1830 g or 1970 g. They also have a dimension of 339 x 232.5 x 21 mm (W x D x H). We noticed neither bobbing keys nor clattering nor any other weaknesses. One minor point of criticism: the arrow keys. They are somewhat close together, sometimes leading to typos. Apart from these, the keys are sufficiently large, arrayed in a 19-mm grid, and labeled with good contrast. Assure worry-free enjoyment of your T440 with accidental damage protection, which keeps you covered in the event of accidental damage -- such as drops or spills -- that occur under normal working conditions. Our Lenovo ThinkPad T440p has two usable graphics chipsat its disposal. Using Nvidia's Optimus technology, the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600as well as the dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT 730Mcan be accessed. The GPU can make the selection automatically, or the user can do so, as desired. Since Nvidia's Optimus works very reliably, users can generally rely on the automatic function. We only wondered in which cases the dedicated graphics card would ever have had noticeably better results than the integrated graphics system. However, to get the answer you need, let us start reviewing this laptop section by section. Lenovo ThinkPad T440 Design, Dimension, and Weight Review From the test result above, the Lenovo ThinkPad T440 performed below its competitor, which uses the same processor. Based on this, I will be rating it seven out of ten in this processor review section. Lenovo ThinkPad T440 Memory (RAM) Performance Review I hope you found this Lenovo ThinkPad T440review helpful. If you found the review helpful, kindly spare a few minutes to share your thoughts with Itechguides Community.

Multimedia, Budget Multimedia, Gaming, Budget Gaming, Lightweight Gaming, Business, Budget Office, Workstation, Subnotebooks, Ultrabooks, Chromebooks Hence, in the benchmark test, the Lenovo ThinkPad T440 had a score of 901 points. Meanwhile, as a means of comparison, the HP EliteBook 840 G1, which uses the same Intel HD Graphics 4400, performed better. Storage options are big and functional as well, with the option of either a 512GB or 1TB SSD. The T440 can also get up 12GB of DDR3L, though we're not sure you'll need that much, since an i5 processor is your only option, not i7. The preinstalled Dolby software can slightly improve the sound quality and you can clearly hear the difference when you deactivate the software. The sound is pretty thin and focused on high tones in our opinion. The maximum volume (white noise: 84 dB (A), 53 sone) on the other hand is decent and sufficient for rooms of 20 - 30 m² (~215 to 323 sq ft). The sound quality is okay for a notebook of this size, especially when you consider the typical environment of the T440. What is the ThinkPad T440, the last device from the T440-series in our editorial office, capable of? Compared to the predecessor, the honorable ThinkPad T430, we think that especially the case has been improved. The chassis is now considerably thinner, the weight has been reduced and the design is now up to date as well, at least for ThinkPad standards.

The chiclet keyboard is well made and reflects typical ThinkPad quality. The keys offer a moderate stroke and a good pressure point; the stroke noise is quite quiet. The keyboard mat is firmand does not give easily. Specifically, on this laptop, you will get a standard 4 GB RAM soldered to the motherboard. Then, there is a slot that houses removable RAM.
