About this deal

one of our furbabies, Daisy, is on Hills c/d for maintenance of recurring crystals in her urine which caused blood in her urine and painful urination. I have been using cystease with this special diet for a 2 + years now. i am sure this was on my vets advice. however my question is does this supplement acidify cat urine ? and should we really be giving her this, plus the special diet ? Whether you're brand new to easy-repeat or not, we know you might have a few questions, and we'd like to make sure you have all the information you need. What I want to know is - do I *have* to give him the Metacam? As far as I can tell, it's a painkiller used after feline surgery rather than an antibiotic, and he doesn't appear to be in any pain - he hasn't strained for a wee, he's active and happy which is a massive improvement on yesterday morning. I stupidly googled Metacam and was instantly hit with stories on cat death, so at the minute I'm really against giving it to him - 5kg is almost half a syringe full. The vet said his bladder was empty yesterday and he's straining because he feels like he needs to go. She gave him a Metacam injection, and gave me a 3ml bottle of Metacam oral suspension along with 30 Cystease tablets day (two a day sprinkled on his food). She advised me to give him a 5kg dose daily starting today of the Metacam. Feliway Cystease (previously Cystease S / Cystease Advanced) is a tablet given to cats to help encourage urinary health. As stress is considered the main factor in urinary health, it is recommended to use alongside the Feliway calm-inducing diffusers which are available from VioVet here . Various factors have been recognised as being associated with the urinary problems, such as obesity, dried biscuit diets and stress due to environmental factors (often from other cats).

Feline cystitis means that your cat's bladder is inflamed and when it is called idiopathic cystitis it means that there is an underlying unexplained reason for its cause. It is a very common condition and is not always a serious health concern but we always recommend you chat to your vet about it. WHY WOULD THIS BE RELATED TO FELIWAY CLASSIC?Please note that parcels weighing over 2kg may be sent via courier due to Royal Mail weight restrictions. If Finn's having a problem with repeat infections in his bladder I would also give him Waterfall D-Mannose which is great at mopping up any bacteria hanging around in the bladder. When a cat is stressed it has been proven that a layer within the bladder which protects it from the harsh chemicals in urine becomes patchy, when this happens it is more exposed and inflammation can occur (1). FELIWAY Classic can help cats have less severe signs and episodes and fewer recurrences of cystitis (2). HOW TO USE FELIWAY If your cat suffers with Idiopathic Cystitis it is important to identify stressors in the environment and reduce the impact of these.Stress is a common reason for underlying feline cystitis in cats.If your vet has advised you that your cat's cystitis is due to stress, then Feliway Cystease is the ideal support product to use alongside their other suggestions.

I've just bought some for Mia - more to see if they'll help with reducing her stress than the urinary side of itCystease contains ingredients to help relieve stress and support the bladder, it does not contain any urine acidifiers. A urinary diet is the mainstay of preventing repeat urinary issues to it is advised to continue this if your vet has recommended one. "Idiopathic cystitis" is one of the names used to describe the condition and it certainly seems to help using a product like this. It has to be given for a few weeks before it is fully effective, then has to be given long-term. My ellie is on maintanence cystease for her uti's and seems to be fine now(When we first got her we were in and out of the vets! (It has been 10 years since and she seems to be well) (Except for the fight she has just been in)
