About this deal

The Future Past Tour will focus on their 1986 album ‘Somewhere In Time’ plus other hits Iron Maiden I've been increasingly feeling that it's time to stop collecting all the FDCs. As with many, the Queens death will be the trigger. Though if there were 8 issues of 4 stamps a year, and the occasional mini-sheet, I might have continued. But 13 Transformer stamps. 16 DC comic stamps. Nothing to do with the UK! And while a set for the Beatles or Rolling Stones ... once we've hit Iron Maiden it's too far. Time to ditch it before we hit the Sex Pistols and Charlie Watts issues. url=https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/iron-maiden/2023/the-o2-arena-london-england-3ba7c804.html] Iron Maiden bring 'The Future Past Tour' to the AO Arena, featuring songs from 'Senjutsu' and a focus on the iconic 1986 'Somewhere In Time.' Founded in east London in the mid-1970s by songwriter and bassist Steve Harris, Iron Maiden’s decades-spanning career has made them one of the most revered and influential bands of all time. With over 100 million record sales, almost 2,500 live performances across 64 countries and 17 studio albums – including their latest, Senjutsu, released in 2021 – Iron Maiden have remained fearlessly creative and dedicated to their legions of fans for almost half a century.

I think a part of me just died, reading the 2023 list - though it did bring me out from lurking. Or maybe it was the Transformers issue. If only this 2023 list was part of an elaborate joke. The press coverage of this issue is very significant. When was the last time a ‘general’ GB stamp issue got the same coverage?

As a stamp-loving metal fan, these should be right up my street, but I am really disappointed. The set makes little sense: Stamps are designed many months in advance. The printing time varies; Christmas stamps are often printed in July. Autumn/winter issues will have been printed before October in many cases. Ultimately, the more discussion about stamps the better. The more traditional collectors need to understand this isn’t going to change no matter how much you tut.

Nonetheless he’s going to buy the framed collectibles set to go next to the Queen one he already has. I agree with the wide range of choices of UK bands & artists. They'll run out of stamps first......For those thinking I'm just too old - the 1980s were my era. From the comments, and looking at their discography, they were far more popular in the UK than North America. I had to turn to Spotify just now to even remind myself what they sounded like. I barely recognize their biggest 1980s singles. And in the passing of 40+ years, they sound like a poor imitation and a little bit off-tune version of Rush. No indication as to price for delivery outside the UK but in the absence of that I assume it is the same. The Future Past Tour will feature previously unperformed songs from our most recent studio album Senjutsu along with a focus on 1986’s Somewhere In Time, plus other classic cuts. The Iron Maiden issue has attracted a vast amount of attention on social media, as Norvic points out, and judging by the reaction to it will probably attract a lot of non-stamp collecting buyers with a lot of money to be made from all the extra remarkably expensive accompanying products. In these hard times there still seems to be a lot of money around to enable people to buy these products.

As I look closer, the mini-sheet does at least have some artistic merit. But the concert photos? What happened to art?

Iron Maiden Gig Timeline

The 70th birthday was marked by a Commemorative sheet (A4 portrait smiler-type) but they have stopped issuing them. Sounds like Matt Parkes negotiated a deal, then tried desperately to find some reason - however tenuous - to justify shoehorning it into this year's calendar ... pretty much par for the course since he became involved with Royal Mail's philatelic arm, and a perfect example of why separation of powers is such a good idea.
