After the success and fun of previous years, THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride is returning to the Mid-Norfolk Railway again with the magic of the 2004 motion picture THE POLAR EXPRESS™ being theatrically re-created so you and your family can be immersed in the sights, sounds and intrigue of this classic children’s tale. Prepare to be surrounded by the magic and wonder of the Christmas season!
The movie announcements are operated by the remote control (requires 3 x AAA batteries, not supplied) Once the Weardale Railway Conductor makes his “All Aboard” call you will be transported into a magical atmosphere created by caroling elves ready to board the Train to Christmas Town, where the magical elf folk are waiting to share the spirit of the season with everyone as we make our way to collect Santa Claus. Can we create enough happiness and energy to make it all the way there? You will travel through an enchanted forest which is transformed by a multitude of lights and surprises. You will then arrive at Levisham Station, where a dazzling light show will begin. Experience a light extravaganza and a snow covered authentic heritage station, like you’ve never seen before! During the journey our train staff serve the children with a drink and chocolates. Parents and other adults are not forgotten with a mince pie and either an alcoholic miniature, wine or a hot drink. Santa walks through the train to see the children, providing an opportunity to take photographs and to wish everyone the compliments of the season.The Midlands Polar Express Ride –We encourage our guests, young and old to wear pyjamas just as in the book with a dressing gown for good measure also. Children love it and if you can persuade our older guests, Mums, Dads, Granny and Grandpa to also join in, the atmosphere in the train comes alive for a truly magical experience! The Polar Express train set from Lionel in O gauge (and S, for that matter) evolves with the technology. The train itself, celebrating the Christmas book and movie, has been in the catalog for years. The train maker continues to find ways to keep it fun and fresh with each iteration. The latest O gauge Polar Express set release from Lionel includes a disappearing hobo car, character figures, and LionChief control. The consist includes the No. 1225 2-8-4 steam locomotive and tender. The engine is equipped with a smoke unit and traction tires and features some neat detail including a bell and whistle. The tender, connected via a snap-together drawbar, houses the electronic sound unit that includes chuffing, the whistle, and crew talk. This set features a coach with a hobo sitting by a campfire that can be flipped over to produce a “normal” roof. Note the footprints, too.
Once the Dartmoor Railway Conductor makes his “All Aboard” call you will board the The Train to Christmas Town, where the magical elf folk are waiting to share the spirit of the season with everyone as we make our way to collect Santa. The return of The Santa Steam Express will see families welcomed on-board the festively decorated 1970’s carriages by none other than Santa himself – plus his merry helpers, on one of three departures each day (09:30, 11:45, 14:00) for a 1 hour 15 magical steam journey around London. Children will enjoy a drink and festive sweet treat on arrival and will receive their very own gift from Santa as he passes through the carriages – making precious memories as he goes. Before we know it ,we will reach the North Pole at Christmas Town where Santa Claus himself is waiting to climb on board along with his wondrously naughty Dancing Elves. Each child will be greeted by Santa as he makes his way through the train and presents them with a special Train to Christmas Town gift. Be ready to join in The Dancing Elves will have the whole carriage singing and dancing along to your favourite Christmas songs. The set also comes with articulated figures of the conductor, hero boy, engineer, and fireman. They have holes in their feet allowing them to be posed on metal pins atop the cars. They are fun to pose in various ways depending on the scene from the book or movie you’re trying to re-create. It also features 2 movie announcements ('All Aboard, this is The Polar Express' and 'I am the King of the North Pole', in addition to light and looping sounds (stream chuffing, whistle, and bell) and a 3-position switch (stop, forward with sound and forward without sound).
