Now I'm paying the price of that and the only thing that can make me feel better in this moment is to get me book two right now!!! The Confidence Of Wildflowers is not your typical forbidden steamy romance. This was the story about two people who found the best in each other and decided that they were worth it. Their past didn't matter and in their own way, they helped each other healed. This was a slow burn addictive story that showed you all of the sides to loving and being in love with someone that you didn't see coming. It heartwarming, sweet, sexy, charming and when you least expected it, it tugged on your heartstrings and made you appreciate life even more.

A heartbreakingly beautiful read. I cried so much towards the end.😭😭 Kudos to the author for being a heart breaker. Falling for someone almost fifteen years older than me wasn’t part of my plans, but sometimes things happen when you least expect them. My future is a big ‘what if’ at the moment and I’m fine with that. For the most part. When Thayer Holmes moves in next door, the grumpy landscaper both fascinates and amuses me. When he asks me to nanny his kid, it’s a great way to make some extra money. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Thayer and his adorable son. There’s a big problem though. I’m eighteen. He’s thirty-one. Falling for someone almost fifteen years older than me wasn’t part of my plans, but sometimes things happen when you least expect them. The Confidence of Wildflowers by Micalea Smeltzer – eBook Details I went into this book with high expectations and was left extremely disappointed, which is so annoying because I thought the story had so much potential. When we begin to live like wildflowers, we put so much of our hearts into blossoming even in the most hostile surroundings.” I should've braced for impact and put my emotions and my freakin heart in a bubble wrap like I wanted to do all along. I was eighteen, he was thirty-one. We were worlds apart. But right next door. The temptations were too strong. tw// childhood sexual abuse (heroines dad to her), cancer (heroines mum), death of a child (heroes son), cheating (heroine has a bf)

Coming to the plot; it starts off with a new neighbour moving in- Thayer Holmes, 31 years of age, the single dad to a precious boy (you immediately adore)and he's divorced and the love interest. Salem (our main character) is 18, goes off to introduce herself to Thayer and kinda forcefully. The two warm up to each other in coming days. Now, I do mention in my vlog that there is something that happens and is very spoiler-y, but it can also be a huge trigger for people. Therefore, as I mentioned in my vlog, I am leaving a spoiler here for those who have death as a TW: The Resurrection of Wildflowers - It took me a while to learn that sometimes no matter how much, or how hard you love someone, or something, you have to let them go. You can’t save a sinking ship.

Thayer Holmes has branded himself on me. And I know, without a doubt, that whatever this is, whatever we become, if we grow and flourish like the wildflowers behind our houses, or crash and burn, it won’t matter because when I’m old and gray, lying in bed thinking about my life, he’ll be the best part.” I mean we got a single dad, a large age gap, a grumpy hero, and a boyfriend in the picture! If all of that don’t call for an ANGSTY forbidden DISASTROUS love story, I don’t know what do! It got all the potential and all of the ingredients, but somehow it still ended up so freakin easy and chill. Thayer who has a 6-year-old son Forrest, is a single father who recently got divorced. He moved into the house next door to Salem and asks her to babysit his son from time to time. She agrees and this leads to their relationship blossoming and falling in love.

The heroine was immature with little to no growth. The endless trauma was added one on top of another so this read like poorly written literary fiction tragedy porn. The pacing was abysmally slow. And there was no layered build up of emotion only the unnecessary and heavy handed use of throwing in every possible tragic scenario to FORCE some kind of emotion out of the reader because the writing alone could not do it. I don't really know what the author was trying to accomplish with this story because literally nothing happened until the last tragic event that caused the third act break up. On either side the wild roses, their pink dewy faces turned to the sun, tumbled over the fences, sprawled on the ground and filled the air with their pure summery smell.” Overall, I know that this book won't be for everyone because Micalea pulls out ALL the stops for this novel--and some people wont be able to handle that. However, I still adore this book with all my heart even though it is currently laying in pieces.

ok so this was not good but it was feel good. in other words it was an overly long epilogue. all this story consists of is feel good moments and a HEA. i don’t regret reading it and i’m happy it all ended the way it did but there was just too much filler writing for me to give this a higher rating. Don’t get me wrong there was still the sadness that carried on from the first book but some actions, especially by the male mc, weren’t what I thought someone that age would act like which okay it’s fiction but I still was disappointed at where we started of.I also loved Salem's relationship with her mother and also the brutal honesty that came from Salem's therapy copying mechanisms. Their baking was so cute and I loved their bonding in that (I will forever associate cookie dough cupcakes with this book). Honestly, I just wanted to protect Salem and her mum at all costs. Their lives were awful when their husband/father was alive, and yet these woman made it, they survived it, and they fought for their happiness. Ugh, my heart hurts just thinking about them. The last 10% of the book… Um… I don’t know what to say! That was heartbreaking but leaving you with a huge bomb at the end… the f? Like it felt like too much maybe save the other stuff in the other book. That last thing felt rush like it could have easily left with the most heartbreaking ever and then start with something like that… but man that is not fair. I get why people don’t like it, I think that’s fine. It’s definitely not for everyone. During Salem and Thayer’s 5 year separation, they did not communicate or reach out to one another so Thayer has no idea about their daughter. This is such a beautiful but heartbreaking story of two people who find their other half. This story doesn't shy away from the cruelties of the world we live in, Salem and Thayer are people who keep getting dealt horrible cards in the game of life.
