About this deal

We shall see if this is actually the panacea I have been looking for. Certainly my stand mounted desk fan wasn’t moving anywhere near enough air, nor was it focussed enough. This design is very focussed to the point of being quite directional but then, a static bike doesn’t really move anywhere so set it right and forget. I bought (requested the buying of) the Vacmaster some nine months into my indoor cycling. Until that point, I’d been using a cheap (I assume) desktop fan that makes more noise than air movement. Tell us what the product is for and who it's aimed at. What do the manufacturers say about it? How does that compare to your own feelings about it?

The only turbo specific clothing I have got is a Sweat Gutr Headband. Until a few years ago I didn't have that as I preferred to be outside and when I was inside I hardly sweated. But in the last couple of years my metabolism has changed and I sweat like a pig, hence the Gutr 😂

If it had more then three levels of speed adjustment I’d agree. I like my continuously variable plug adaptor I use with my lasko fan. Yes, downside of having two power cords going to it so wireless would be better. Operate the fan remotely and adjust the speed without interrupting your workout, with the convenient remote control. Fully adjustable remote controls, so you can choose the right speed to match your output intensity (remote + batteries included).

It’s pleasing to know that, if needed, the Cardio54 can push sufficient air to RIP MY FACE OFF. Ahem.

The fan betrays it’s workman-like roots. You can position it horizontally, or vertically or at 45° but the 45° option feels just about right. Initial impressions suggest it shifts air at a decent rate but my review will all have to wait a week while I try it out. Having ridden my gravel bike Monday evening it’s quite possible I will be riding Zwift more than once this week, as my ribs are still quite uncomfortable from Bike Park Wales. I wonder if this stuff is actually selling? Surely most people still just use their old tatty shorts (I'm proud to have a pair entering their 11th year of use) Maybe it's just the new pandemic-induced Peloton crowd who are getting it? So if you do detect any bias, it is the profound emotional response to my beloved buying me a gift… which was in no way precisely the thing I specified she buy because she’d run out of ideas. The Benefits of a Fan Whence Indoor Cycling

The high power setting is fairly loud, but not in a vibratey-through-the-floorboards kind of way. It’s rare that I need this setting though – low power is fine for most of my training sessions (if we can call them that). You can put your front wheel right through Tacx’s clever tablet stand, allowing you to position your tablet at exactly the right height and distance from the handlebar. The tablet holder itself accommodates the same tablet sizes as the Tacx Tablet Holder.Like Rapha, dhb goes for bibless waist shorts, saving the fuss of removing the straps before the session is over. A compressive waistband and silicone grippers are designed to hold the shorts in place in the absence of bib straps. How does the price compare to that of similar products in the market, including ones recently tested on road.cc? The Cardio54 is a fitness-specific version of the Vacmaster air mover fan. The latter is aimed at a more general fan-base (I thenk yew, I’m here all week). Even neatly adjusted, though, the air column is so narrow that doing intermediate sprints in a group ride moved my turbo across the floor sufficiently that, by the time the ride was over, the fan was no longer hitting the spot. The Vacmaster Cardio54 is a great fan to use with your indoor trainer. It pushes a lot of air and is more effective at keeping you cool than most other options. A few tweaks to the design would make it even more effective, though.

Rather than simply offering a weight advantage over standard designs, the Van Rysel Racer Ultralight bib shorts are designed for comfort in hot weather – or indoor turbo sessions. Their heavily perforated panels work very well in the heat, but the shorts also regulate temperature well when the mercury's lingering around 13-14 degrees. Versus the Wahoo Headwind, of course, it’s a bargain. The Wahoo unit, for which fan speed can be controlled actively by your speed, heart rate or an app, costs about 2.3x more. The movement makes the time on the turbo more comfortable: you don't end up sitting in a fixed position and even small movements in the bike's position help to shift the weight on the saddle about to stop you getting sore or numb. The fact that that the bike can move under you also reduces stress on the frame; that's a good thing generally, but especially if your bike manufacturer doesn't warranty your frame if it's on a static trainer." Leaving that aside, it's hard to quantify what the actual effect of the suit is on your performances. I can tell you that my best recent performances have been wearing the suit. But I can also tell you that those performances were in races I was prioritising. So maybe it's just because I'm trying a bit harder. But I was sceptical when I first received it to review, and now I find myself wearing it when I'm putting the effort in."
