About this deal

Andre Russell smashed 64 from just 23 balls to set up a comfortable victory for Manchester Originals over defending champions Southern Brave. Originals completed the highest chase in Hundred history with four deliveries to spare and will meet Oval Invincibles in Sunday's final at Lord's. The rare occasions when there was time for reflection could be even harder. On the day after the D-Day landings, Ernie Pyle took a walk along the beach and wrote of what he saw: Sadly, Ernie Pyle was killed by enemy fire near Okinawa in 1945. How wonderful that we have his writings, which document his contributions to the wartime efforts. Brave Men serves as an eyewitness account. If you are a history buff, this book needs to be on your list.

Anya Shrubsole may have retired from England duty but the pace bowler, who has a lethal inswinger, still has plenty to give. Although Pyle, one of the first "embedded" journalists in wartime, could get a bit repetitive, his account of the American GIs in the European theater during WWII will rightly stand as one of the best portrayals of the common soldier in these epic times.I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in WWII and/or had family members that served. You can't get much better than this first person account, primary source of the war. Ernie Pyle details the lives of everyday men, and the occasional woman, who served overseas in the Sicilian and Italian campaigns, in England, and in the beginnings of the Normandy battles.

Two balls later, with Buttler on 71, Ahmed had the chance to run out Buttler at the non-striker's end, but was in no position to gather Vince's return. It would be the Brave's last chance. McCullin, knowingly or otherwise, dug out the truth and sought to bring it home for us all to see, in our newspapers, in colour, as loud and as immediate as being there ourselves. McCullin went to places most of us would never go, to document and give a voice to those who had none. Only through the eyes of the war reporter do we bear witness to the truly courageous – the civilians that must deal with war’s oblivion, day in, day out. If that doesn’t sound like bravery, I don’t know what does. Despite their protestations, we must continue to pay tribute to those who still do this job today. + Next steps Ernie Pyle primarily focuses on the normal “little guy”. There is a brief interview with Omar Bradley.

Match Hero Andre Russell speaking to Sky Sports: "This is my fifth game and I've been feeling confident with the bat, but the runs weren't coming. But I kept believing and today I did what I do best. I'm happy with the win, hopefully we keep the momentum going. The other aspect I found interesting was the adaptability of all levels of American society to the differing requirements of war. Remember that this, unlike today, was not a volunteer army, but one chosen from all ranks of society. For example, there were men recruited from the mid-west who successfully went into the navy and were piloting small boats. Her England teammates Danni Wyatt and Anya Shrubsole can also enjoy productive campaigns for a team coached by England women’s most-capped player Charlotte Edwards.

Vince, Lintott, Mills and Archer are joined in the retained Southern Brave men’s squad by fast bowlers Chris Jordan, George Garton, and Craig Overton, batters Tim David, Ross Whiteley, and Alex Davies, plus Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis. Pyle "was a Pulitzer Prize–winning American journalist and war correspondent who is best known for his stories about ordinary American soldiers during World War II." He was a famous reporter then. He was killed by enemy fire in the Okinawa campaign in April 1945. Per the review that follows, "As a combat reporter, Pyle surpassed all others working during the Second World War...."Along with all those who fought or resisted Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, the American soldiers who served in the Second World War helped preserve for us a world in which human decency and liberty are possible. In “Brave Men,” Ernie Pyle, a war correspondent embedded with our forces in North Africa, Italy and France, helps us understand, eighty years on, what they did and endured. An account of the war can serve no higher purpose than to inspire our abiding gratitude to those soldiers, and in this “Brave Men” succeeds magnificently. Southern Brave's batting was then blown away by 22-year-old paceman Henry Brookes, who took 5-25 as the visitors were bundled out for just 123. His critics claim he does not deliver consistently enough, and gets himself out when in a good position, but in last season's tournament he top scored for the Brave with 229 runs, and was the third-best ranked batter overall.
