About this deal

Enterosgel just contains an organic mineral and purified water. It does not contain anything else so is free from drugs, preservatives, colouring, gluten, lactose, flavours or sweeteners, and does not have a taste. Enterosgel is available as an oral suspension in a tube (90g and 225g sizes) or in sachets (15g dose, ten sachets). For IBS or other chronic condition the best option is the larger tube (225g) while the 90g size is ideal for children. You will also benefit from Enterosgel sachets, which are handy to carry with you to work or when travelling. There were no statistically significant differences between groups for secondary outcomes, that is, the duration of diarrhoea defined as the time until the last liquid stool, percentage of patients with diarrhoea resolved from 12 hours to day 3, stool frequency or duration of nausea, vomiting, fever or abdominal pain. However, there was a trend towards shorter duration in the resolution of diarrhoea in the Enterosgel group (25.3 hours vs 38.4 hours), although this was not statistically significant (p=0.20), possibly due to being underpowered. What happened during the study: 440 patients were recruited and given either Enterosgel or placebo, which they took for 8 weeks (Double-blind phase). Enterosgel is not indicated for use in case of acute chemical or drug poisoning or medicinal overdose.

After 8 weeks all patients knew they then received Enterosgel in this Open label phase and reported the same things for another 8 weeks. There are several different intestinal adsorbents based on the natural silica or clay. Enterosgel is based on pure organic mineral called methylsilicic acid. Enterosgel does not contain any preservatives and additives, which could cause allergic or toxic reactions. Enterosgel has an extensive body of post-marketing clinical studies and over 10 years of use in Europe with an excellent safety profile.

Double-blinded randomised placebo controlled trial of - Gut

Stop the treatment with Enterosgel if you do not have bowel movement for 1–2 days, increase intake of water and continue the treatment after the next bowel movement. After 16 weeks if patients reported adequate relief of their IBS-D symptoms, they were then asked some questions about their symptoms and Enterosgel use. Enterosgel is a versatile product, which can be used for a wide range of health problems, from IBS and food poisoning to skin complaints and hayfever. I’ve certainly got a tube in my first aid cupboard ready for use when needed. In this study the primary endpoint measured the percentage of patients that had a 30% decrease in their abdominal pain and a 50% reduction in days with a loose stool, during at least 4 out of the 8 weeks double-blind phase.

Supplementary Data

Virtual trial capability empowers patients; it allows any patient anywhere in the country to access the trial. It also means zero hospital visits which makes participation safer and easier for all. The recommended dosage for adults is 1 sachet 3 times per day. Take each sachet with 100ml water or a cold drink and always take it 1-2 hours before or after a main meal. The recommended dosage for children aged 3-5 is 1/3 sachet 3 times per day. For children aged 5 or older, the recommended dosage is ½-1 sachet 3 times per day. Side Effects Enterosgel does not contain any active pharmaceutical ingredients and can be used alongside other treatments. It is recommended to take Enterosgel 2 hours before or after taking other medications. However, do not take Enterosgel if you are currently taking modified-released orally administrated medications. Intestinal adsorbents such as diosmectite a mineral clay, which are classified as medical devices as they have no pharmacological action, have shown promise for the treatment of gastrointestinal conditions including IBS. 9 10 The basis for their use in IBS is not completely understood but is likely due to their capacity to adsorb endogenous and exogenous substances such as bacterial break-down products (eg, lipopolysaccharides), immune proteins and bile acids, thereby inactivating their effects in the gut.

A Guide to Enterosgel | Weldricks Pharmacy

The sponsor of this study was Enteromed Ltd. We would like to thank everyone who took part in the study. Please, consult your doctor if you are currently taking other intestinal adsorbents, for example treatments which contain activated charcoal, clay, kaolin. Your doctor may advise not to use them together with Enterosgel treatment. Enterosgel is an intestinal absorbent that targets harmful bacteria and rids it from the body relieving you of any abdominal pain or discomfort. Whether you have IBS or diarrhoea, Enterosgel can provide relief without draining your body of water, vitamins and good bacteria. What is it Used For?Funding The authors have not declared a specific grant for this research from any funding agency in the public, commercial or not-for-profit sectors. In the beginning of the treatment (on Day 1) you can double the first dose and then continue with a single dose after each bowel movement from 3 to 6 times a day.
